Our first impression about the place was, ' it is haunted, cold- no heating, nobody is here.' It was because we were the only guests since it was not the season to visit the chateaux around. It turned out to be a magical place to stay! We had the whole place for ourselves. We enjoyed the dining area for ourselves having wine and cheese. Breakfast is simple but good. Manoir is very clean, well maintained and well-heated. It feels like a time travel and living in your own castle with all the amenities of the modern world.  It is only 800 metres pleasurable walk to Azay le Rideau to visit the chateaux, dine or shop. I highly recommend the place for groups of friends, gatherings, families, and couples. It can be a perfect place to run workshops, too. It has space both indoors and outdoors, character, kitchen and all the other facilities.

Magical!

I was so looking forward to our trip to this lovely manor house - and then the night before I realised I'd booked for NEXT YEAR. What was I thinking! I sent a quite distraught note to Manoir de la Touche - and Geoffrey rang back immediately saying not to worry and he could fit us in. We are a family of five and the place was pretty booked up (all the sites were saying no availability) so he saved our holiday.

We had two rooms in an amazing turret which was the old pigeon loft and perfect for our family. We loved the ancientness of the house, but also liked that it felt like a real home. We were given part of a fridge to use in the kitchen, were able to make tea and coffee in the fairytale dining room whenever we wanted, and could hang washing on the line in the garden. Loved the free and easy nature of the family home feel. Our camper van was misbehaving so we even did repairs on it at the back of the manor (sorry other guests...).

The breakfast outdoors each morning was lovely, with homemade jams, local apple juice and interesting and always changing local bread. Geoffrey's dad was making pear jam in the kitchen and gave us a jar to take away when we left (along with loaves of bread not used for breakfast for a picnic on our journey). So kind.

We enjoying reading in the hammock, having lunch at a shady table on the lawn, swimming in the indoor pool (and making up our own water aerobics classes), playing air hockey and table foot. One day Geoffrey's lovely dad turned up with a load of new deckchairs in his car and walked around handing them out to guests.

So thanks to Geoffrey and dad for looking after us.

Recommend you have a drink at the 'beach' on the riverside on the way in to town, just over the first bridge. And ice coffee in the ice cream shop in town.

Geoffrey saved our holiday!

This is a beautifully run place with lovely rooms and really nice breakfasts. There is a heated swimming pool, a games room and a nice garden. Very well-located for Azay-le-Rideau about a 1 km away. Great cycling area. It felt at times like a very grand youth hostel but in a nice way.

wonderfully relaxing historical house

We are a family of 4 (couple and 2 daughters) stayed at Alan's charming manoir in Azay le Rideau for 5 nights. It was very nice, comfortable, full of character, restful and with lots to do do to the cleverly built playroom and indoor swimming annex. Great location as it allowed us to visit 9 beautiful chateaux de la Loire without having to drive more than 1 hour in any direction. There are also very nice and high quality restaurants in the area (no more than 15min drive) which enables you to have your dinner and return to le manoir at relatively early hours ready for a relaxing restful and quiet night sleep, of course after we have played table tennis or snooker as a family! A wonderful stay. Highly recommended! Well done Alan!

Charming manoir with a very nice host!

Our group had two different rooms here and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the best part being the friendly welcome from the owner.  He was a great host, showed us around the property, took us to our rooms, recommended restaurants, etc.  We learned that the manoir is from 1531, and the kids oohed and aahed as we walked from room to room, feeling as though they were staying in a castle.

The room was clean, spacious, quiet, and had a comfortable bed.  We took advantage of the pool and rec room, which we really appreciated as fun activities that you certainly can't find at other B&Bs.  The kids thoroughly enjoyed playing pool, ping pong, and air hockey.

Breakfast was very simple, with croissants, breads, jams, and beverages.

The only negative is that credit cards are not accepted, so make sure to come with plenty of cash.

Amazing

Quiet, welcoming and perfect for one night on our way south! Really welcoming and spatsious! We will come back! Breakfast a morning dining room, we felt like pricesses! There was a nice market in the willage wich gave ous a really nice evening.

I would not like to put this hotel down but do feel that there are several points that need addressing.

We were given a room on the 2nd floor which was very spacious, but there was no wardrobe or storage space.

Our main concern was the lighting on the staircase which was very poor and we felt that we took our lives in our hands when descending.

Fortunately, Alain, the owner carried our suitcases up and down for us.

Breakfast could only be described as a simple French meal, so we did not feel that our stay was value for money.

Alain is a lovely man and is trying so hard to make his business a success and I don't want to put him down but I hope these suggestions will help him to improve the Manoir

Trying hard

A stay at the Manoir is like going back to the world of the Renaissance, but with all modern facilities. Our huge room was dominated by an enormous four poster bed, and all the rooms were tastefully furnished and decorated in period styles from the ancien regime. The classical music played in the background helps create a calming atmosphere. Our host, Alain was friendly and helpful and took a real interest in all his guests, whatever their nationality. Breakfast was OK, if quite simple, and we enjoyed the home made conserves and juices. There is an indoor swimming pool, but we do not think it was open, as it was covered.
We enjoyed our stay, and would certainly recommend this place.
