Camping De Ceyreste

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Camping de Ceyreste. The site is situated up a steep hill & some of the pitches have great views. There are pitches for tents, or you can rent a chalet or pre pitched safari tent. The staff were all super friendly & polite & the little swimming pool complex was excellent. The facilities were clean & lovely. We might have preferred closer proximity to a little village that we could have walked into….you really need to get in your car to cope with the hill, but that said Ceyreste is well situated to explore up & down the coast. Our favourite calanque, which was easy to get to & has a little snack bar, was Calanque du Port d’Alon, just east of St Cyr sur Mer. The other wonderful calanque we went to was Port Pins, west of Cassis, but you have to walk for about an hour which was fairly gruelling with small children in the August sun! Well worth it once you’re there, but pack LOTS of water. We didn’t think much of Le Ciotat, but St Cyr has a very attractive square with restaurants in it around the Statue de La Liberte and we had a wonderful evening in Cassis, eating delicious food, exploring the picturesque back streets & people watching. We paid a fortune to get us plus 2 bikes out to the little island of Porquerolles. We then hired 2 more bikes out there. (Boat tickets + parking + bike tickets + bike hire) We found this a waste of money. The island is really attractive with a quaint village (which was completely packed with tourists) but cycling was extremely tough going, there are brutal hills & very rough tracks. In the heat it just wasn’t fun. The calanques were idyllic, but no nicer than the ones on the mainland, which are free to get to! Not worth the money & effort. Other than that, we had a wonderful week!
