Such a pretty and peaceful place to stay. Polite and helpful hosts. Maria is a wonderful person. She tried to help about everything, she gave us some advices about our trip. Thanks for eveything. Also Ohrid is amazing. One day we want to visit there. 

Amazing trip

We are a family of 6 adults: parents, children and a son in law. We have rented 3 rooms in Villa Saraj and have stayed here for 13 days. A perfect place for a family holiday with great facilities for cooking and eating. Each room has a separate fridge. The host Marija is incredibly helpful and friendly. She speaks English well. The atmosphere in  Villa Saraj is excellent. We have enjoyed our stay and are confident that we will return. We highly recommended Villa Saraj to anyone looking for a place to live while in Ohrid.

Incredible view of the lake from a beutifuld garden

just spent three idyllic weeks here! Highly recommend. View fron garden is amazing. Macedonia is such a beautiful country! 😎 Ohrid is stunning!would recommend a few days in Skopje also! Ohrid is easily one of my fave places to visit.,. ever😎

wonderful family holiday

This is a warm and friendly family-run Villa where you can relax and feel at home. Maria is very kind and took the time to drink tea and chat. She speaks excellent English and is a very interesting person. The room was perfectly comfortable with a delightful terrace. A wonderful Macedonian experience.

Perfect for a solo woman traveller

wonderful view , perfect people and location that you can't  imagine.  villa Saraj garden is my favorite place for reading and painting. This is  a place to remember and share your memory with other people.

We had not booked anything for Ohrid, and walking around, we stumple upon Villa Saraj. Marija greeted us at the gate of her lovely lake-view garden, with a warm friendly smile. She showed us the appartements, and made us some coffee and tea. We opted for the one with the "indoor balcony" which opened up to a wonderful view of the lake and og the red tile roofs of old town Ohrid. Very homey, very cosy, somewhat old and well used, but with the feeling of staying at your granmother's place. You have your own entrance from the street. Good, wide double bed. Small kitchen and bathroom, but everything works perfectly. 10 min walk from the lake/city center. Either via steep stairs or a bit longer but flatter via the streets. 

Very lovely hosts, amazing view, good price 

We stayed there for two nights and our arrival was a nightmare.

We were booked into a two bedroom flat with a kitchenette, balcony, small common area and a bathroom. The bedrooms were okay, but we had to complain about the bathroom, as it was actually dangerous to shower in there. The "shower" was a shower head attached to the sink, and in the same corner, about 40cm away from it was an open mains socket. On the outher side of the wall, the wires from the same socket were exposed, and another socket in the kitchen was held together with sello tape. We went to speak to the owners about our concerns, because having a handheld shower next to that is dangerous, and illegal in many countries. They took great offense to it, and our complaint turned into a very ugly and long shouting match. The owners made sarcastic comments to each other (thinking I can't understand them maybe?) and the male owner shouted, paced and argued. We asked if there is electricity going through the socket in the bathroom, and they said "No.". We tested it with a phone charger, and showed them that it was live, and the owner responded with "So what? You aren't an inspector."

The photos online showed normal bathrooms, and we said it was unfair that they advertise with their better rooms, and we're given this. First they said that there is no difference between this and the rest of their rooms. After comparing photos, they said that these are their cheap rooms, and this is what we get if we want cheap! A guest should not have to fear being electrocuted in the shower because it's cheap.

I have never had to make a complaint like this, and I have never been spoken to like that by hotel owners before! The conditions of the hotel were shocking, but the most shocking part was that they shouted at us, and kept telling us to leave!

Some small things: they forgot to give us the keys to our rooms or any towels, there was a used towel in the bathroom, the bathroom couldn't be locked, we had to ask for enough seating. I would not normally mention such small things in a review, but after our experience it really shows what kind of service we received all over. 

The balcony was advertised as "side view of Ohrid lake", however there was no view, it was obscured by another building. Our view was of the rubbish behind their garden, and a construction area next door.

All this wouldn't be such a big problem, if the owners had been professional, and not rude, aggressive and arrogant. Avoid at all costs, because if you're unhappy with anything, you're in for a big scandal.

The front garden was nice but we didn't spend any time there after everything that happened. We couldn't rebook anywhere else that late at night so we just slept there and spent all of our time in town.
