Biruk Bed & Breakfast

Hmmm…where do I start? I’ve never stayed at a bed and breakfast before so after reading the reviews for this place I was very intrigued. I booked it and communicating with them was a breeze. Mebrati & Etetu, the owners were very accommodating. I actually enjoyed just conversating with them. Location: It’s very close to the airport and just a few mins walk away from all that is happening in Bole. If you are flying in, arrange a ride with them as its the easiest. I broke my trip up into 2 stays (2 days and then 3 days) while here in Ethiopia as I went off to Lalibela and then visited Debre Zeit and they allowed me to store my luggage with them while I was gone. Room: The rooms are very clean and the beds are very comfortable. I had no issues sleeping at all. They provide you with shoes to walk around in and fresh towels every day. The staff goes above and beyond to keep this place immaculate. Staff: There were two to three women working at all times and although they spoke a bit of English, I had no problems communicating with them. They chose their staff wisely. Grounds: The Garden is peaceful, when the sun is shinning, there is no other place to be. Main room: This is where you eat and just kind of chill and unwind. Spent a lot of time here as the other guests and Mebrati & Etetu were always tuned into the futbol games during the World Cup. Food: You can either go out to eat or stay in. If you want to eat dinner or lunch here, as breakfast is provided, then just give them a few hours heads up so that they may prepare it. The food was always delicious and home made. Laundry: If you plan to be on the road for a bit or have been, they do a great job with your laundry. Give it to them in the morning and then by evening, at the latest, they will have it done. I’ve had laundry done in the places and they did a good job. Overall, if you are coming to Addis, I would definitely recommenced staying here. I asked a lot of the other guest how they found out about it and most said through friends who have stayed previously or stumbled upon it online. Its safe and secure. I left my belongings around as if I was at home. I honestly never even locked my door…thats how secure it is. There were people from all over the world here. Lots of Americans & Europeans and they all heard about it from friends.
