We arrived on Christmas Eve at around midnight and did not have anywhere booked to stay. After asking at 3 or 4 popular hostel who were all booked we rung the bell at Hostal Luz on the off chance they had room. The receptionist called from inside the gate asking what we wanted, and when we said a room for two he said $25 for the night, which was actually a pretty good deal!

The room was very noisy, right on the corner facing the street. Thin walls so you were dealing with both the street noise and the noise from other rooms, including the phone ringing repeatedly as late at 3 or 4am for minutes at a time without being answered by the night receptionist, which woke us up every time. 

Thin curtains too which let in all the light.

Oh, and there isn't a kitchen, contrary to what they advertise!

Positives:

- cheap deal for walk in, would NOT pay the $40+ advertised rate online

- cable tv

- hot water showers (kind of, you had to turn the hot on only a very small amount, if you turned it up to get pressure then you lost heat)

- ok wifi in room

- free potable water in the lobby.

All in all, for the price it wasn't bad, but do not pay more than $25USD a night or you will feel ripped off!

Naff, but had hot water and cable

It wasn't the best place I've stayed. People and employees did party all night and we could understand various languages. We were not comfortable at all the way they were talking. In the morning we reported to the reception, and it was blamed on indian. We did mention, we understand spanish and arabic and it was the employee behind her. We notice everyone face changed as we cought them and there's no indians at all.
