La Casa de la Gringa

Annie and Fausto are incredibly welcoming, kind and helpful. We felt at home right away and they treated us as family. We also loved the friendly dog and the quirky cat. The rooms are cozy and the bed warm (alpaca blankets). Breakfast was great; the best we ever had during our entire holidays is Ecuador and Galapagos Islands. Highly recommended and next time we definitely stay here again.

I had an unusually excellent experience at la Casa de la Gringa.  On the day I was supposed to leave, I fell sick and was unable to leave Quito as originally planned.  Annie, Fausto, and Felipe worked tirelessly to ensure my health and safety.  They set aside a room for me, took me to medical appointments, and and once I was better Felipe and I went out on some excellent private tours, which were adapted appropriately for how much activity I could or couldn't do.  Thanks to their hospitality, a potentially bad situation turned into an extremely positive memory.

Hosts are incredibly kind and their dog is so sweet! We were treated like family for our entire stay. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and timed to accommodate our schedule. Highly recommend and would absolutely stay here again.

The hosts Anny and Faosto made this the most wonderful stay. They were so friendly and kind, I really felt like a part of the family staying here. Every morning they made me the most delicious breakfast, it was like a private tour of all the weird and wonderful Ecuadorian fruits I never knew existed, it was definitely worth paying the extra for breakfast! I had the triple room and there was so much space for me to spread out, and lots of blankets to keep me warm, it was quite separate from the rest of the house and had it's own bathroom so I had a lot of privacy. The neighbourhood of La Floresta is a great place to stay, really cheap to bus into the city (25 cents!) and lots of great places to eat nearby. If you want a taste of what life is really like in Ecuador, you should not look any further, this place is the best.

Our stay at La Casa de la Gringa was excellent. Anny y Fausto are the best hosts ever. They are such wonderful people who are always available to give you advice and recommendations.

We had the triple room in the back of the house. It was very spacious and the beds extremely comfortable. The shower was great with lots of hot water. The wifi was super-fast, even in our back room. We did take the breakfast one day $3.50 and it was excellent. Loads of food!

The homestay is in the La Floresta neighbourhood of Quito. We specifically chose this area due to the many fantastic restaurants in the area and thought it would be quieter than the Center. For us, the Historic Center was walkable (about 45 minutes) but if you are not a walker, you can take an Uber for under $3.00.

We have been travelling since the beginning of November and hands down, we had the best sleep at La Casa De La Gringa! It's a place you really feel like you are at home.

Best guesthouse I had since years. Staying here for 4 weeks during my language course. Really enjoying the great service and warm welcom that Annie and Fausto give to there guests. It really is a homestay with super breakfast, clean rooms and strong wifi.

Our stay at la Casa de la Gringa was truly amazing! Starting with the hosts Any and Fausto who are the most friendly and warm people and went out of their way to make our stay the most pleasant and memorable experience. They advised and supported us on activities and gave us insights about life in La Floresta and Quito. We arrived in the evening and were welcomed/surprised with a delicious dinner as well as tea and coffee in their dining room. Also, we highly recommend having breakfast there. It was extremely tasty and the variety very good. Especially, we enjoyed the selection of breads and fruits that differed every day. We stayed in a really nice and clean twin room attached to the main building with a shared patio and a private bathroom which was two steps across from the room itself. The beds were huge and extremely cosy. The complimentary wifi worked very well and there was free drinking water, too. La Floresta is an pretty amazing place to start explorations into beautiful Quito or enjoy one of the many nice restaurants, bars and coffee shops. The barrio is quiet and save though. Nice vibe but no party crowds and high rise buildings. If you want to make your stay in Quito special, mingle with the locals and like homestays while having your complete privacy this is the perfect spot and we highly recommend staying there! We would have loved to stay longer and will definitely return one day. Thank you so much Any, Fausto and beauty Sasha for everything including the smooth ride to the airport. Wonderful wonderful homestay in Quito! My boyfriend and I were welcomed as if we were family. Our room was comfortable and the Internet connection was strong. The breakfast in the morning was delicious - seasonal fruit, scrambled eggs, bread, yogurt and muesli, hot coffee and milk. La Casa de la Gringa is also the family's home, and they are clear that they don’t offer certain luxuries like a hotel. It's he perfect choice if you’re looking for an affordable but cozy, cultural experience. The neighborhood, La Floresta, is a great area full of colorful murals and shops, and the family is happy to offer up suggestions. We walked to the Centro Histórico, but there’s a bus around the corner that has numerous stops in the center. Would for sure stay again at La Casa de la Gringa!
