So the location is great. You can avoid the stairs by entering from the north side I think.  The family lives in the house (husband wife &3 kids) and they smoke inside.  Was up on the top floor and had issue with the wifi. 

I'd stay again b/c of location

Good location

I stayed here for three nights in early August 2015. It was a pricier than most other places I've stayed at in Europe, but I'm unaware of standard hotel pricing in Croatia/Dubrovnik specifically. I paid around $50 per night for a single room with a shared bathroom. It was a very small room, the smallest I've ever stayed in, though that doesn't bother me. It's just that at other places, I paid around $25 a night for a significantly larger room, or even $30 for a small room but with my own bathroom.

From what I gather, the place is an apartment that the couple who owns it have bought out, and they turned the extra rooms into rooms for guests to stay in. 

Pros: 
-Location: Very close to the Buza gate, quick walk to the local beach
-Hosts: friendly, pleasant 
-Wifi: strong, fast
-Bathroom: clean 

Cons: 
-No real reception or reception hours, hosts were often not around for questions or assistance 
-There was a clothesline outside my room, which I thought was for me to use, but it actually just was for the hosts, and they were periodically in and out of my room to hang up or take down clothes. Maybe this wouldn't bother you, but traveling as a young woman alone and paying for a single room I like to know I have the room to myself
-On my third night I couldn't sleep in my bed because there were bugs crawling in the bed, over the pillow and up the walls. Maybe this is just a one-time thing or a mistake, but it's enough to have me not come back

Bugs

No air conditioning - impossible to be in the room or sleep in summer months!!

The owner is a nice friendly guy but the room was the worst we stayed in for the whole time in Croatia. It doesn't have air conditioning - what the owner calls 'air conditioning' is a sort of floor standing dehumidifier that blows air at the front but gets overheated at the back and makes the room even hotter. It's a tiny attic room - so hot that we couldn't enter it before 11pm, didn't sleep all night and left at 6am the following morning as we couldn't handle to be there anymore.
