We arrived from Melbourne via Guangzhou around 10.30pm and rather than make our way into town, decided we'd stay near the airport to get sleep as soon as possible. Yes the hotel is outdated in decor but the check in was super fast, hotel very clean, suite was HUGE, including the awesome bathroom which is almost room sized itself, and the breakfast was really fab. Loved the restaurant and it was a nice way to slowly ease in to the beginning of our week in Shanghai. There's a free shuttle direct to both terminals which we took (check hotel website for timings, and note that it doesn't run frequently at certain periods of the day). From there we were able to purchase maglev tickets into town which drastically cuts the travel time and travelling 300km/h is a fun experience. To get right into the city, you need to change lines, but it's easily done via Alipay/WePay or purchasing from service desk. All in all, we loved it and would definitely return if we ever have another late night arrival into Shanghai.
