Mindel Hotel

Mindel Hotel is not a 4* hotel in Western standards but I think you should not expect that when coming to the island of Sao Vicente. However, the rooms are clean and well equipped (air conditioning, TV etc.). The hotel is professionally managed and staff is very helpful and friendly. I was there during the Carnival and can recommend everyone to visit Sao Vicente during this period. There are smaller celebrations on every Sunday heading up to Ash Wednesday but the main celebration is always on Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. The Carnival is really an amazing experience. I really appreciated that I could buy some tickets for a stand at the hotel – otherwise it is really difficult to see anything. Tickets for the stands sell out very fast. I purchased mine on Saturday before the celebration. There are different stands, ask for the one in front of Royal Eden cafe. Be there no later than 15:00 - 15:30 on Tuesday because once the celebrations have started it’s difficult to get around in the city.
