I stayed at Rampart Creek hostel again in June, 2022. Not much has changed over the years really. A great hostel manager (Joel), a upgraded wood burning sauna (so totally wonderful), quiet, peaceful surroundings, and a wonderful place to stay a night or two in a genuine authentic Canadian style. This is the "real deal". A campfire pit, a wood- burning sauna, and a glacier fed creek to cool off in after the sauna if you are brave:). Clean kitchen with stove, fridge, potable water, etc. and a common room. And really clean, non-smelly outhouses:). Amazing!! And even wi-fi if you really need it. I hope you don't. Clean, warm (thermostat controlled) cabins as well. This is a place for enjoying nature, good conversation, and talking if you like with other people. This is what defines a truly GREAT hostel experience...

Awesome as always

This is an adorable little place - if you can find it and you are looking to get away from everything. The area has some of the most beautiful scenery in Alberta. If you are looking for a base for hiking that has bunks and a kitchen - this is perfet. The firepit area is nice too. 

Rustic!!!!

This hostel is located close to the highway in a superb location with a mountain stream close by. Its accommodation is clean with dorm type rooms and a well equipped kitchen including a refrigerator. There is also a wood fired sauna close to the stream so you can indulge in a dry or steam sauna followed by an refreshing plunge. All linen is supplied so you do not require bedding. Joel is a wonderful host. It is wise to book well in advance particularly in the summer since this is a well attended tourist location on the Canadian Icefields Parkway.

Great Location!

Love this place and love the owner. Will stay again for sure. Simple but everything what is needed is here. No showers...if you need shower you can drive to Lake Louise Town and ask for free shower in HiHostel in the town(explaining that you are a guest of HiRampart Creek Hostel)

Highlight of our Rockies trip

Always a good time here. I am happy that wifi is minimal, as you can actually talk to other travellers? The dorm rooms are clean & warm, as are the kitchen and pit toilets. And the night life is great! No, not bars, but sitting around a starry sky and a roaring campfire. And what is this about no showers?? Warm up some water from the creek in the wonderful wood fired sauna, and you will have the best shower EVER!!

GREAT!

We arrived quite late and only stayed one night, so our experience of this place is limited. There were several cars in the car park when we arrived and we nabbed the last spot. There are no showers, and the toilets are drop toilets (not too stinky or anything, they were very clean). There is water to drink and cook with, and electrical lighting in the rooms. Otherwise it's all pretty basic, but we really enjoyed the vibe. Most of the people staying there were hikers or families, so it was quiet and the people were friendly. Nice big kitchen. The dorm bunk beds were fine. Overall a very inexpensive place to stay and definitely worth considering if you don't mind not being able to have a shower!

Lovely and cozy location and lovely staff. Everything you need and a very good atmosphere with a camp fire at night. There is no running water but toilets and water to cook are provided. We would definetly book again.

Beautiful location along the Icefields Parkway. Large kitchen for the number of guests, and the drop toilets were very clean (considering what they are) and didn't actually smell too bad! There was electricity in the rooms and kitchen/lounge for lighting.
