Classy colonial style rooms in lush gardens with the luxury of a shiny blue pool in the middle of a lovely mekong island (Koh Throng). The hotel is worth every penny they charge and if you stay in Kratie you are way better of to rest in and enjoy Koh Throng as Kratie itself is rather run down.
Koh Throng on the other hand is a picture perfect island with no cars and friendly locals right in front of Kratie. Get there by ferry from Kratie for 25 cents and the hotel tuk tuk will pick you up on the other side.

Mekong Island Paradise

We (4 people) went to Kratie over a long weekend and were very happy when we finally arrived at Rajabori Villas Resort (pro-tip: contact the front desk in advance so that you get picked up from the boat drop-off point. It's a very long walk!). 

First of all we were very lucky and received a free upgrade to one of our rooms which we didn't need to ask for. The whole place was very clean and the staff was outstandingly friendly and customer service orientated! When we had an issue with one of the bathrooms of the rented rooms, we immediately were given another room, which was, again, an upgrade. All of this happened without any hassle.

Food and drinks were very affordable and the entire place had a very nice atmosphere. 

Lastly, I think Rajabori Villas Resort would benefit from translating their entire website to English, but that little "language barrier" definitely doesn't take away from the fact, that this is a great place to stay for adventurous people, who enjoy being away from the more noisy parts of Cambodia.

Traditional rooms with very accomodating / friendly staff

Check out their honest website about who should and shouldn’t go here. For us it was excellent. The fact that we had the place largely to ourselves made it very extra special. 

Off the beaten track, a ferry ride and then a resort tuk-tuk or moto dop to get there is worth the effort. 

Peaceful, relaxed, friendly, spacious, quiet setting. We took a cycle ride around the island at one point, almost every local returned our Soosday or offered one. Friendly and authentic without obvious tourist shops that I saw!

It’s off the grid and not air-conditioned so maybe we picked a great time given it wasn’t too hot and there weren’t many tourists. But a great spot and can’t recommend enough if you’re okay with not staying in a five star hotel room, what you get instead is a bungalow and your balcony overlooking the pool is as big as an average hotel room, and then you can go inside your room.  Not sure about the curtains instead of doors to the bathroom/toilet area but you adjust. Bath was special as is the authentic room design, doors and Windows design and construction in general. Restaurant was of high quality and the beer cold. 

The pool was clear and clean.  Fantastic location for a weekend away to just relax with a book by the pool.

Beautiful quiet and peaceful environment on a farming island in the middle of the Mekong River.
Very quiet resort with good food and accommodation. It's a place to go to 
chill as there isnt a lot on the island, except. To. Ride one of the bikes on the path that travels around the island 

Oasis

We went here to stay during the afternoon and use the swimming pool.
If you want to just use the pool without staying overnight, you pay 5$.
However, if you eat for at least 15$ worth of food and drinks, you don’t have to pay the afternoon fee. 
We decided to eat until we couldn’t physically no more and it was absolutely delicious! Nice choice of Khmer and Western dishes, we tried the Cambodian spices beef, the riverfish, the stuffed tomatoes and had the fried bananas and fruit salad as dessert. Wonderful food, the fried bananas were amazing, I wouldn’t have minded a scoop of ice cream with it though.

The Swimming pool was nice and refreshing, with complimentary towels. 

The location is stunning and quiet, it was so soothing to be in a quiet atmosphere compared to busy Cambodian cities.

I highly recommend spending an afternoon and having lunch here, if you want some peace and quiet. 
Please note that you need to grab a ferry to Koh Trong, walk about 5 minutes on the sand, and then hire a bike or motorcycle to get there. 

Afternoon stay

It was an experience getting here! Got the ferry across and then went on the back of a motorbike to get up the sandy bank before a tuk tuk took us to the hotel. Lovely location, very quiet and secluded. Friendly staff and lovely food. Wonderful rooms. Would like to have stayed another night.

Didn’t stay here long enough!

The place is beautiful and the staff so welcoming and always smiling and very helpful!The villas and rooms are authentic khmer style! You are just in another world ! Relaxing and peaceful!
The food is various and very good with traditional dishes.
I just want to go back !!! 

A Beautiful and magical Resort !!!!

Really enjoyed the island and the hotel. Makara runs a good service with everytjing looking great. 
It was a bit of a faff to get the boat over but also part of the experience, make sure the hotel arranges a tuktuk to pick you up from the ferry. 
The rooms were fine but without AC could be hot under the mosquito net- we also got bitten quite a bit. 
Food was fine with western and khmer options. 
Loved the island, so peaceful, rural and chilled. 
Makara arranged a trip to dolphins which was seamless, and fairly priced..

Lovely island, relaxed hotel

Together with 25 Anglo-Thai Society members, my wife and myself are fast approaching the end of a 2 night stay at the Rajabori Villas Resort - probably the best Hotel on Koh Trong Island?

Certainly an interesting property to access - starting with catching a Ferry for the 5-10 minute journey from the Mainland followed by a motorbike taxi to take you (and luggage) across the extensive beach (ie during the Dry Season) before switching to a Tuktuk taxi for the final10-15 minute journey to the Resort!

Once there, the Resort gives a favourable impression with nice gardens, large swimming pool and attractive Villa-style accommodation. The Villas themselves are spacious but dark and hot due to the absence of air conditioning although there is a good fan and attractive wooden window shutters. Beds are on the hard side & the absence of a shower curtain often results in a messy bathroom! The WiFi service is also mediocre at best!

On the plus side, the staff are very willing and - in our experience - quick to respond to requests (our Villa lock was changed within 15 minutes). Few staff, however, speak good English which can result in some basic misunderstandings but - generally, speaking - all turns out well in the end!

Breakfast is served from 0645 hours onwards with a set menu. There is a limited choice but the quality is good. and other light can be ordered meals throughout the day.

All in all, a most enjoyable stay in very pleasant surrounds - one that Ali would be happy to repeat.

Peaceful Resort

Once you arrive in Kratie you then take the ferry over to the island. Then a moped will take you to the resort. My husband is a large man but the driver was able to fit him and his bag on the moped no problem! It was fun to ride through the island and then arrive at the beautiful resort. The resort is a peaceful oasis. The pool was very clean and the food was great. All beds in Cambodia are harder than I'm used to back home but this one was by far the hardest. I didn't sleep well due also to the heat. Adding an additional fan would do wonders! They don't have showers so I tried to take a bath and the water started to leak out the bottom and filled up the bathroom floor. We stayed here one night and I think that was perfect. It is a peaceful getaway but I was ready to get back into town the next day.
