Very attractive accommodation, in a beautiful colonial building, surrounded by a lush tropical garden, where you can sit outside for breakfast or dinner. There is also a nice swimming pool.

We had a spacious room on top of the roof, neat and clean, with a wonderful bed. I think the rooms elsewhere in the hotel are even a bit more stylish.

Delicious and plentiful breakfast. Good dinners are also served, of course in the garden, but the restaurant inside looks nice and cozy too.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Always cheerful. 

We enjoyed La Villa for 100%. Even the signs of decay, which are certainly noticeable, contribute positively to the atmospheric appearance of the building. No doubt we would stay here again on a next visit.

Travellers be carefull!!
I have made a reservation through booking.com but then realized that I inadvertendly selected the wrong date. I wrote to the site asking to change the date and received a reply saying that they were not receiving any response from the hotel it would have been my responsibility to contact the hotel and obtain the requested change…… So I did. I wrote several mails which have all been equally ignored. Finally I was alle to put the manager of the hotel on the phone who candidly acknowleged receipt of all my mails but instructed me that the online way to obtained the requested change was to cancel my booking reservation and made a new one directly with them (without using Booking.com). He also guaranteed that the cancellation fee would have not been applied as this was in fact a mere change of date. So i acted as instructed but the hotel never confirmed my new reservation and booking has charged me 65US cancellation fee.
If you do not want to have the same horrid experience just select an alternative structure

An awful experience

I should just not review, but after seeing all the 5 stars, I just can’t believe anyone would like this place. 

We booked directly from Phnom Penh by phone. In PP we stayed at Rosewood, without a doubt the BEST experience of our long lives. We stayed at Park Hyatt in Siem Reap, another great experience. We read all the glowing reviews about La Villa and decided to give it a try. 

We had the misfortune to get room #8. If charm means filthy, then charming it was. We left the room intact and our baggage in the room. We trekked around Battambang for about an hour finding another room. The room we found wasn’t great, but we hightailed it out of La Villa and never looked back. 

The next day we returned to Phnom Penh to our luscious room at Rosewood for 15 days of bliss. 

I don’t want any harm to the owners, but the website and all those 5 star reviews are very misleading.

Not for us.

The hotel is beautiful and charming with its colonial charm. The rooms are very lovingly decorated. High ceilings, stucco, mahogany furniture, pictures of the founders from the 1933s and beautiful old tiles/terrazzo or, depending on which room you are in, wood floors. However, you should not expect modern doors, let alone chip-card locks. The doors are very old craft and you get an original key à la the little hobbit including the oval door.

I'm sure you 'll come.

I'm very sorry to give such a negative review to this hotel, but unfortunately the images do not exactly reflect the actual condition of the structure. It's a fatigued, dirty and carefree building. It's a place that has enormous potential, but it's badly exploited. The location of the hotel is great to visit the city, which is a real gem.

Battambang, joys and sorrows

This colonial house has been renovated while preserving the original furniture. It feels like you are in a museum! The rooms are very very spacious and comfortable. The staff is very caring. The ideal place to stroll around Battambang while enjoying this beautiful villa that takes us back to the history of Cambodia during the colonial period. This hotel also has a restaurant and offers very good Khmer and Eastern meals. The proposed breakfast can be a European breakfast (roasted eggs, omelets etc.) as well as a Khmer breakfast (nut soup). If you have the opportunity to visit this Battambang hotel, it is worth a visit!

Back to colonial times in this beautiful villa

Nice touch of colonel building. Central of Battambang town with a clean and nice pool. Hotel's manager and restaurants staff were so helpful. Room was great, experienced a blackout during the night but it is normal for province electricity.

Great stay

The house itself is the star here beautifully renovated and as have been written here before you truly fell like stepping back in time
If you can splash out and go for one of the two superior rooms-you will not regret it as they are quite unique .
Its a small hotel with a good little restaurant and a very nice pool and pool area..
Its far from a modern 5* hotel so if thats your thing then this place might not be for you but if you want to experience something out of the ordinary-stay here!

Loved this old restored villa

It's actually a house with potential, but unfortunately it's not being used or is no longer being used! The rooms are modest, not really clean and everything is old and partly defective (toilet washing). Really a shame! We wouldn't come here again, especially since it was also the most expensive hotel on our tour.

Unfortunately not, there's a lot of potential, but it's not being exploited.

Sadly, this hotel did not live up to it’s pre-pandemic ratings.  We found it rather tired and in need of a good deep cleaning.  Minor repairs need to be made, the safe was missing parts and couldn’t be used, electrical outlets need to be replaced to be useable, refrigerator parts were missing, wall repair and paint are needed.  An overall freshening is needed.   The host did his best with minimal staff, but the experience didn’t live up to expectations.
