Liya was recommended to me by a cabbie so i was a bit skeptical. All that qent when I met the owner and the staff.

Very nice charming guest house. The owner helped me a lot, especially with using his card to pay for my flight ticket (I only had cash).

If you want an affordable clean secure room, this is the place.

This was an African looking place, but had many modern conveniences, AC& heat, hot shower, good bed, desk & chair, refrig, tv, nice closet & clothes storage area , spacious room. Also, the place had a nice size spacy kitchen area & a place to sit & talk with others. Everything was very clean. Good location up on the hill from town. Quiet area too. Was 3-5 minute car ride from the bus station / rank. Breakfast was good & on time & plenty. Was only here one night was going to stay on return trip but plans changed so I could not. Would stay there again, cost was average for the area. Good signs on the road to find the place too. I stayed at the guest house lodge not the camp site area, they are many miles or kilometers apart note when booking, when you choose. 

Staff was emailed & asked about the town bus time schedule, but they did not know or respond to the email. I have a high security email so it might have not gone through? Also, the phone number listed on Booking was not the best to use I found out when I was there. Staff was friendly & helpful.

Liya guesthouse is a little outside the town centre and access to the town and river could be a bit problematic if you don't have your own transport. But the service was reasonable, the room was large and comfortable and the air-conditioning was very welcome in the searing heat.

Reasonable guesthouse

We stayed at Liya Lodge prior to going on safari in Chobe.  It is an older building with ensuited air conditioned rooms, clean and with good linen, which we found to be adequate.  The staff were excellent and the owner was a great host. Liya is located about 5 minutes drive from town, by taxi, which we found to be a bonus.  If travelling in that area we would stay there again.

Inexpensive acommodation in Kasane

I arrived for a weeklong safari on a Sunday, DO NOT arrive on a Sunday in Kasane.  The safari company I booked with brought me to the Liya Lodge.  There is NOTHING to do around here, thank goodness there was wifi.  The TV did not work, there is no place to walk as they say elephants and other wild animals roam freely and to be aware.  There was no dinner offered.  The sheets and towels smelled so strongly of laundry detergent I could hardly sleep and could barely dry my face with a towel, the smell was so strong it was almost unbearable.  The place did seem clean enough but I certainly could have afforded a nicer place and wish I would've stayed somewhere else.  The staff was nice but did not understand things that where very comprehensive.  If I was a youngster who didn't know better, this would be just ok.  Otherwise book someplace else, preferably with views on the Chobe River, you'll be glad you did!  Will not stay here again.

If you are young and don't know better, stay here...otherwise do not.

After 9 days of safari mainly sleeping in tents, the program was saying: night in a Lodge.
Unfortunately, after several changes due to problems of reservation and availability, we ended up in the Campsite, an extension of Liya Guest Lodge which is 30mn away from the Lodge and the river and has nothing to do with a Lodge. It is an affordable solution for campers but not a good solution for people looking for rest in a charming place.
There is no kitchen, so meals come by car from the lodge, no wifi, no swimming pool of course and even showers are rudimentary.
Check between Lodge and Campsite when you book !!!
