Guest House Scheldevallei

We booked this small flat for just one night on our way through Belgium. It is well equipped and even has an Espresso coffee machine! The owner was away so a friendly young man who could speak English showed us around. We had some trouble getting there because of roadworks and complicated diversions so we asked him if we could get to a particular restaurant we wanted to go to without being caught up in the diversion and he said no but would give us printed directions. He disappeared for a while and came back with 5 A4 sheets of detailed directions to the restaurant, how amazingly helpful. The flat caters for 4 (or even 5? people) but it is open plan so there is no privacy. It has a double bed plus a bed settee and, I think, an additional single seat/bed. The lounge/kitchen area opens to the bedroom area from where you go through a glass sliding door to the bathroom. The glass door does not go up to the ceiling so there is little sound privacy. The flat is clean and ideal for a couple or family. The place is not easily seen from the road as it is behind a house which is part of a nursery and there is a large gate but our satnave found it ok. We would happily stay there again. A word of caution if you are going there during the rest of October 2017: The diversion is long and complicated so the best thing to do is to go to the next motorway exit (Merelbeke if you come from Ostend) and then let the satnav take you to Scheldevallei from there.
