upgraded bedrooms make this hotel very pleasant.
The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating
The food is very good and the rooms pleasant.
There is a cosy bar, but perhaps the only downside is that there is only one small seating area for relaxing after the meal.

comfortable family run hotel

We stayed here on a Crystal skiing holiday. The hotel was ideal for skiing as it is close to the Planai, near the apes-ski, and has good facilities. The rooms are very comfortable, with beautifully appointed bathrooms. The staff are very friendly. The food is good, and there is plenty of it, but it is nothing fancy. We would certainly return.

The ideal choice for a skiing holiday

We stayed here in mid January (booked via Crystal Ski). Good room (not huge) but well appointed with acres of storage, and a small but functional bathroom. Pillows were a bit lumpy and thin, but hotel happily gave us 2 more to bulk them up. Good food every night, friendly staff, and a 5 minute walk to the ski lift. Would definitely go back. 

Great hotel for our ski holiday 

Stayed in room 208 during a one week ski holiday 5-12 January 2019. The room was spacious, modern and had a nice decor. The room had 2 single beds, but had a couch which could be a third bed. There was a flat screen TV, a large wardrobe with shelves and hanging space. There was a safe in the wardrobe. There were coat hooks on the wall next to the radiator which was great for ensuring your ski clothes dried quickly. The room was very warm. The toilet had a shower cabinet. The wash basin had a large shelf underneath the basin for holding. The room and toilet looked as if it been recently modernised/decorated. The bar, dining room and reception were on the first floor they were nicely decorated in a more traditional Austrian style. On the ground floor the entrance hall was nicely decorated with sofas and there was a bench seat outside the ski room. The ski room was well appointed with heated racks for ski boots and racks for holding your skis and boots. The hotel has a lift which services all the floors. The hotel mentally located and is about a 5 minute walk from the Planai Cable Car Station. The food was lovely with a buffet breakfast consisting of a selection of fruit juices cereals, cooked meats, cheese, bread, fruit, and eggs. Coffee and tea was served at each table. The evening meal consisted of 4 courses: salad from a buffet; soup; main course, which you select the day before; and a desert. The food was varied, well presented and delicious. The staff were very friendly, engaged in great conversation and efficient in carrying out their service. The hotel has sauna/health spa rooms on the top floor of the hotel, but I did not visit it. A member of our group did make use of the spa and thought it was excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending the Neue Post for a holiday and would return if I decide to visit Schladming again. The holiday had various types of guests: solo; couples; friend groups and families.

Great hotel for a ski holiday

Stayed here at the end of January 2018. We are a middle aged couple, good skiers and try to take two ski trips per year. 

Hotel

Hotel is a little dated however we had a good size room which had been refitted. Good size  flat screen tv, good size bathroom which had a good size shower. Beds were reasonably comfortable. The high street was noisy at night but the windows had good insulation so could not hear a thing. 

Food. 

Reasonable standard, breakfast had a good selection of food. Dinner was salad, soup, choice of main and then desert. We had a bottle of white wine which we made last a couple nights at around 27euros and a large beer at around 4euros. Service was friendly and professional.  

Checkin was fast and we were in our room in about 10mins.

Location dead centre of town. Bars and other hotels and shops all very very close. 

Lifts

Only about 5min walk on a level road. We stored our skis and boots there for the week. I think it was 45 euro which we found very expensive. They are very good lockers with a lift and worked very well. 

Ski area

We enjoyed it although quite low which we knew before going. Good mix of runs to suit all abilities. Great mountain  restaurants  although would avoid the  one on run 10. Very grumpy service and felt not welcome. They rest were great with most offering a good selection of food some have great views over the area. 

Conditions were mixed while we were here. Overall good but ice and artificial snow on lower slopes. We did all four peaks in a day. Then went to explore each  area  again during the week. 

Crystal were our tour company. Overall were good although check in  with TUI at Gatwick was a mess. More training needed here. Flight about 1 hour 25mins. Transfer 1hrs 30mins. Short walk to hotel.
