We arrived on a motorbike wet and cold from a rainstorm at about 2 p.m. We didn't expect our room should be ready but we needed to get inside, get our wet outer clothing off and warm up. We were amazed to find a sign on the door, check-in at 4 p.m., and the place all locked up, no phone number to ring for access or anything. When we checked our booking we did see that check-in was stated as 4 p.m., but this usually means you can't get into your room until then, not that you can't get into the property. In other cases if there is a restricted check-in time we have also had other properties send us a message in advance if there isn't going to be anyone there, and we arrange access with them - but never just to be completely locked out with no warning or means of contact.

We were both recovering from a cold, and so we had no choice but to cancel and go elsewhere, to get dry and warm, we couldn't just sit around outside for two hours. We were amazed when the establishment slapped us with a one-night cancellation charge, and refused to relent on this.

An establishment which charges rates of over 110 euros per night needs to be providing far far better service than this, if they want to charge like a hotel they should provide service like a hotel.

Arrived wet and cold, couldn't get inside for two hours, had to go elsewhere but got charged anyway.
