My partner and I were on a weekend getaway and visited this pub twice. Lunch and Dinner on two separate occasions.Excellent pub food and service with a smile. Also, very interesting to chat to the owners/manager about the area in general. Very informative.

Excellent place to relax, stay and take in the ambience

Had such a delicious roast pork meal it was huge great music too on a Sunday night the singer was rockin definitely recommend you won’t go hungry great value for money too if you are wanting a casual environment

Great pub grub

Didn't stay there as we were only doing a day trip to Cape tribulation. Called in for a quick lunch and a cold refreshing beverage so this more of a dining room review.

A very pleasant bar area with lots of character and plenty of seating. Food quality was good although a couple of the dishes were a bit expensive for a lunch menu. Service was excellent with friendly staff operating in a clean and well presented environment.

Recommended for a casual lunch or just a break in your days activities.

Good Place to take a break

Fantastic pub meal and great large serving. Friendly service with a smile, very clean in side and out. Plus you have phone service there for you internet and to make phone calls, I would recommend this hotel for a bite to eat. 

Stopped for lunch

My wife and i spent a week in the Daintree, cape tribulation in Easter 2019. We stayed fro 5 nights at the Cow bay hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are clean but are fairly basic. As the site is off-grid, do not expect air conditioning or a nice hot shower. Solar hot water is warm but welcomed after a night of humidity and mossies. The room we had had a small kitchenette and a microwave, there is a beautiful pool in the complex and a couple of nice guest lounges to relax. If you are worried by insects and spiders, this is not the place for you to stay and as we had a lot of both. It could do with a good tidy up around the grounds but it was a good base for us to explore the Daintree.

Easter in the daintree

Called in here expecting to be told no lunch available as kitchen closed but thought we’d ask anyhow. We weren’t fussy, just asked for anything. Not a problem. Fish and chips wrapped in paper. Food passable but couldn’t get over how clean the place was. Not sure what meals would be like in regular times. Never seen such a clean bar and pub toilets! Good work guys. 

Late lunch

After gathering for a Christmas Gathering at a nearby cottage, my wife and I and our two grandchildren were in need of accommodation for two extra nights due to torrential rain cutting off roads and closing the Daintree Rivet Ferry.
We found a welcome refuge at the well appointed Cow Bay Hotel.
Manager Mark and his staff couldn't't have been more helpful...the beer was cold and the food lovely. As it pelted rain outside, we enjoyed the cosy ambience of this iconic pub.

Perry, not sure of first name, called me a bag, guess she doesn't like women coming in for a beer after gardening. Sexist, ignorant, rude. Single women beware! So shocked that this attitude still exists in the world... But I guess the fact they give you take away in Styrofoam containers is a telling sign that things are unevolved in the rainforest.

Rude staff

Used to love this pub. Staff are lovely, but the new owner has destroyed it. No customers, no atmosphere, great chef has left and all the prices have gone up. The owner shows complete disdain for locals.

We stopped in here for lunch, expecting typical country pub grub. We were the only people there, and the staff were having a meeting on a table around 20 metres from us. The bar staff were lovely, and checked if we needed anything, however the staff meeting was a real hammering from management on their staff. Very uncomfortable when you can hear every word! 

We ordered the bucket of prawns, which turned out to be a bucket of ice with 12 prawns on top. A real disappointment considering it was $28. The prawns were also rubbery, not fresh and probably some of the worst I'd ever tasted.

The only positive of this place was the friendly bar and kitchen staff, and the big outdoor seating area.
