El Marsa

Stayed in Hotel El Marsa (Sidi Fredj) hotels for a week in the begnining of October 2010. It was my first visit to Algeria, so really wasn't sure what to expect, especially as there are next to no reviews on any websites. It's listed as a 4* hotel and I would agree as it's really clean, rooms and common areas are cleaned at least once a day, clean towels are provided. Our room was a lovely size, with a large bed, en suite bathroon and balcony with a sea view (had to be requested when we arrived). Hotel overlooked Sidi Fredj beach and the port of Sidi Fredj. Weather in October varied from 23 degrees - 31 degress - so definitely better than a british summer! Any non-muslim women that are going on holiday here should remember that Algeria is a muslim country and if you do not want to be hassled by young men, you should generally cover up (i.e. long dresses and a cardigan, leggings and a long top - you don't have to cover your hair or anything). Went on a lovely boat ride from the port of sidi fredj which cost around £20. You'll be suprised that at the amount of pizza places in Algeria - but they make fantastic pizza's and sea food is also brilliant. Throughly enjoyed my stay and woul definitely recommend this hotel for any trips to Algiers
