This was such a fantastic activity through the winter wonderland of the White Mountains. The owners of the stable and our sleigh driver were very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The draft horse, Charlie, was very sweet and posed for pictures with us before taking us out on our ride. Our route took us through pristine snow-covered meadows and a peaceful forest path, with several beautiful views of the White Mountains along the way.

The sleigh itself felt very traditional, and also was very comfortable. Blankets were provided to ward off the cold but you'll want to dress warm and make sure to bring gloves and a hat/scarf. We opted for the romance package, so our sleigh ride included champagne and fine chocolates, which was a very nice touch. We were out for about 30-40 minutes, but it felt like it went by faster because we were having such a great time!

I highly recommend the Farm by the River - it was a great experience from start to finish!

Wonderful and picturesque private sleigh ride experience

Highly recommend staying here. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The owners  are exceptionally attentive and their staff member (Carrie) was down to earth and extremely personable.. We were able to take a sleigh ride, which was spectacular! Breakfast every morning was out of this world. 

Honeymoon

We drove seven hours and arrived at 930pm, Friday evening with friendly greetings from Rick. Two adults, two children (8,11) stayed in the bridal suite.  Our room was comfortable; toilet, shower/bath worked fine.  We only stayed until Monday, weather wasn't cooperative for a sleigh ride, but there was plenty to do in the area during our stay.  Charlene, Rick, and Carrie were all very nice and helpful. Breakfasts were good.  I thought the distance from the road would be an issue but it wasn't a disturbance or distraction at all.

We only stayed a weekend.. a few more days would have been great!

First of all, we enjoy bed and breakfasts.  We enjoy meeting people, getting tips from locals, and having an experience instead of a boring hotel room.  Farm by the River was exactly what we were hoping for.  First of all, it is in an incredibly convenient location.  You are about five minutes away from North Conway (restaurants, shopping, etc.), about three minutes away from amazing natural attractions (Dianna's Baths / Cathedral Ledge), and the beautiful White Mountains (pretty much touching their edge).  Rick and Charlene are truly one of the inn's most endearing attributes.  They were kind enough to give us tours of the stable, bake fresh cookies daily, and share their experiences in the area. Our weather was unusually good for February, but it was still nice to have a room with a gas fireplace. It kept us warm and toasty while providing some wonderful ambiance. We had a private bathroom and more space than other B&B we've stayed in. So comfortable and nice!

Feels Like Home.

My husband surprised me with a secret trip away for Valentine's Day as well as my birthday. He has never done this before in our 24 years of marriage. When we pulled into the B&B, he announced " we are here". It looked so quaint in the dark with the candlelight in each window although it was raining so hard upon our arrival. The owner, Rick, had my husband pull to the front door so I could get out and make it an easier unloading. Rick, was very pleasant and sweet. He gave us a tour of the house and room and gave us great tips on where to eat. We were the only guests so it was pleasantly quiet. My husband booked a sleigh ride with champagne and chocolates. The ride was so relaxing. It was a beautiful, sunny day, brisk and so quiet, I felt like we were the only ones in the world at that particular time. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was delicious, especially Ricks homemade muffins and OH the coffee was amazing! My husband did this on his own, so I could not have been happier. The owners and Carrie made you feel comfortable and we had some nice conversations. They had a nice dog named Heidi who seemed very sweet but we are allergic to dogs so I was happy that it did not roam near our room. We have never stayed at a B&B so this was a very nice change of pace.
