$400 per night for a very dull, very brown room which was in poor repair. Never again! Restaurant is so-so. Parking lot is a complete scene. Location right on the highway. We'll easily find a better spot for less money next time. Restaurant was "out" of about 50% of the menu. Lame!

$400 Per Night Rip Off!

We stayed here between skiing in Jackson Hole and Big Sky. What a little gem! It is clearly meant for fly fisherman, but served us so well. The staff could not have been more accommodating when we discovered only 1 of 2 rooms was reserved for us. The location on the river is magnificent. We were pleasantly surprised by the fabulous meal we had in the restaurant...again, friendly staff & delicious food.The room was super comfortable and very well appointed. We LOVED this spot!

Amazing stay. Snowmobiling and enjoying the Beautiful River view.  Great food at the restaurant and convenient to just walk down the hallway and eat.  Yummy hot drinks as well.

This was 4th time that we have stayed at Trouthunter.  The lodging, restaurant, and staff couldn’t have been better.

Great place to stay in island park! I will definitely be returning soon.

This review is for the fly fishing guide service. I've been guided in several states and with several different companies. Trouthunter was not a good experience. Upon arrival, they had barely said hello before they told me to go in the back and make my own lunch. It is a simple brown bag lunch, and for the price they charge, should be much more than it is. They also charge for flies and leaders. So plan to pay an additional $50-80 in addition to the guide fee for this. The good news is, if you keep your receipt, you can take back the ones you don't use. The guide I had was new to the business, but actually did a fairly good job in the Box canyon. But he was not very good on the Ranch section where we only threw to one fish in about three hours time. Overall, just felt like a number to them and would not recommend this outfitter.

Fly fishing guide service lacking

Love this hotel. We just needed a room for one night in the dead of winter. But we packed our XC skis. The rooms are really nice and they accept dogs! The ground floor rooms have direct access out a patio door to the river. The restaurant is also very good and the staff is friendly. Pack your own hairdryer if that is important, and there is no in room coffee :(

Great location

We spent a full week at Trouthunter - fished six days. Fly fishing immersion. 
Great room/bed/bath. Good housekeeping. Really excellent breakfast and dinners. Good beer selection and cocktails. Didn’t see a lot of wine. 
Friendly hard-working guides - excellent teachers for novice fly fishers and for experienced fishers. Lots of couples and female anglers. Fly shop is really a fly shop, not just a clothing store. High end fly rods for sale (eg Burkheimer). There is also another full fly shop across the road with slightly different mix.  One of the owners was there every day. Customer always right attitude. Beautiful view of Henry Fork river. 
Can’t think of anything to criticize - hot water sometimes slow to arrive, noise from second floor rooms if you are on first floor. Guides prefer cash tips - we had to scramble to get cash. 

Very customer oriented

A colleague and i were given a day of fishing with Trout Hunter. We arrived on time, met Zach our guide and got our licenses while he pulled lures for our chosen location. The advantage of preparing your own shore lunch was obvious; you get exactly what you want. 

I was a complete novice and my companion was experienced. Zach patience with a beginner was remarkable. Over 8 hours, he cheerfully replaced lures, untangled lines and coached a newbie on fly fishing. We had a terrific day on the water and credit goes to Zach for his excellent work as our guide. I look forward to my next trip so I can renew our friendship.
