What a fantastic place, with outstanding hosts! I visited recently with my pet cat to attend the animal hospital close by. 
Stayed two nights. Cheryl and Graham went above and beyond for me and snowy.
Little presents with food on the bed when we arrived, how thoughtful!
The breakfast was absolutely stunning, fresh produce cooked to perfection.
The room was adequate for our needs, and very comfortable.
Quiz night was good fun too.
But overall, it’s the welcoming, natural and superbly friendly and funny hosts who are the stars of this establishment.
Cheryl and Graham, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, and made a challenging experience much better for me and snowy.

What a lovely experience!

Just want to say what a fantastic weekend we had at the Prescott Inn meeting up with family which had not seen in 2yrs, wonderful host were Phil & Jo. nothing was to much trouble for myself and family. Food was superb Rooms were lovely and clean, entertainment was good especially with young children who were with us.
Keep up the good work looking to do it again soon. 
Highly recommend if looking for a weekend away either with friend or on your own.

Weekend away

On a recent visit to Somerset we booked two nights at this lovely village pub.  The hosts were very welcoming and friendly.  The pub had real character and a good selection of ales. The rooms were clean and well laid out, with an en-suite. Toiletries were provided, together with tea/coffee facilities, plus cookies.  The breakfasts were wonderful and all freshly cooked.  Great selection of cereals, juice and teas, plus fresh coffee pot on both mornings.  The Full English was delicious and set you up for the day, followed by fresh toast and preserves.  Wish the new hosts of The Penscot all the very best and look forward to returning there soon.  Thank you for your wonderful hospitality.

Wonderful place to stay

Lovely people,great service and 1st class's accommodation. We were let down by another property and these people saved our bacon.They turned disaster into delight in my birthday. Thank you for being so friendly and helpful.

Had a fantastic meal tonight lovely home cooked food really recommend ..got all the covid regulations in place really well looked after and the owners were really friendly and chatty and made us feel very welcome..also dog friendly another bonus

fantastic meal and friendly staff

I had to come to the area because I was visiting my sister in the next town. I was then on my way to visit a very ill family member in Devon. I stayed on 16/3/20 for 2 nights, which was when things started to get very scary with the corona virus spreading. Owners Sarah and Guy were very welcoming and I felt very reassured by their high standards of cleanliness. Someone watched to see what was being touched, they would clean/ sanitise thoroughly after. Of course before this virus came along, that might be thought of as overdoing it, but now we all know it is what needs to be done to prevent this horrific virus spreading! 
The food was amazing, and I wasn't surprised to learn that Guy has many years experience as a chef in 5 star eateries. Great menu and tasty breakfasts and dinners!!
When all this is over I shall return. I highly recommend this unique country pub / Inn!!
Before I  Ieft for Devon, Sarah and Guy were debating closing. Of course they will be now. I hope the local area is benefitting from their lovely food, and if you cancelled a stay recently, don't forget to rebook when they reopen.

Warm welcoming and wonderful food!!

We went to the Penscot Inn and had a lovely break. Weather not kind but spent two nights in friendly atmosphere, two fabulous breakfast’s and two exceptional evening meals. Clean plates all round. Great hosts, nothing too much to do for us. Room was quiet and a nice size.Clean and comfortable. Couldn’t fault.

Weekend break

Arrived after a day walking. Staff were very welcoming and the room was very comfortable.

Had a very nice meal and a lovely chat with the bartender/owner.

I would highly recommend this hotel and would come back given the opportunity

Welcoming Hotel

If you want a 4 star hotel for a fiver, this isn't for you. If, however, you want a good old fashion inn then continue. Beautifully located in a quiet location, great for exploring all west somerset has to offer. The rooms are basic and very clean. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is great. We stayed for three nights and were grateful after a hard days exploring to return to a great meal, a couple of drinks and a great nights sleep. Thoroughly recommend it and will be returning here.

What a welcoming place

Called in to the Penscot for lunch with friends  just for the sake of trying somewhere different.  Not a modern Pub and some would say in need of refurbishment, But the Butcombe beer was lovely and the rose wine was good too.
Now the food is the highlight top quality fish for the fish and chips cooked to perfection and proper mushy peas. We also had cottage pie and american chicken burger again very nice, even skinny chips were served for one of our party on request. 
Its a limited menu, but with the cost of things nowadays who can blame them what they do is very very good indeed We will certainly go again. good value good service and nice people. Nice old Pup.
