We stayed at this gawgus hotel and I cannot fault it one bit.  The room was spotless, loads of pillow which was great.  The pub is delightful.  It's smack bang in the centre of town.  Slept like a log.  Breakfast was superb and the coffee was great. The host were out of this world

Very nice pub/B&B short walk to windermere lake.  Breakfast freshly cooked and tasty, overall positive experience, its better than the 2 stars it seems to have. Room was lovely, only comment would be lot of steps to the second floor, and uneven outside so not great if not steady on feet.  Hosts very welcoming

Central and comfortable 

Called in few times for drinks and food, lasagne was extremely filling and very tasty, served piping hot. Plenty outside seating and dogs welcome. Staff were friendly and helpful. Inside has been decorated, new tables and chairs , and lot lighter 

Lovely pub

Great place for a pint in Bowness, friendly helpful staff with a good selection of beers. We had already eaten but the food looked great too, we will be back to try it! Definitely worth stepping off the Main Street for

On arrival was well welcomed,staff are lovely, rooms are amazing very clean I would recommend this place 100% I was made to feel extra special on my birthday with Prosecco waiting for me thank you for a lovely stay 

Birthday

I originally booked this via Booking.com and unfortunately two days before I made an error and cancelled our booking. I contacted the hotel and they suggested that the booking could still be possible without a cancellation charge, as the payment was to be made upon departure, so they asked me if I wanted to keep the booking which I did.
When we arrived we had advance warning that the hotel was on a hill and so difficult to park to our motorbikes.  However, much to their promise, they had kept a space for us on a flatter area and when we arrived they were out to greet us and remove the cones. Fabulous welcome from the two gentlemen on their shift that day, and once we got settled we sat in the sun with a couple of lovely Wainwright ales.
Lovely large room overlooking the car park and views in the distance.  Bathroom was very small but not a problem for us. We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious and the service excellent. The bar closed at 9.30pm but that suited us as we retired to our room from a long day travelling and so it was nice and quiet. Breakfast next day was delicious and again the service excellent.
I would fully recommend the Royal Oak Inn, a lovely end to our holiday. Thank you

Fabulous place and fabulous staff

Popped in today for something to eat, we got Hunters Chicken, a fish goijon sandwich and, for me, the fish and scampi special. All of the food was beautiful and the staff were fantastic and so friendly and welcoming, especially the guy with the Northern Irish accent, sorry if you’re reading this as I didn’t catch your name, but thank you for the welcome and beautiful cuisine.

Fantastic food, really friendly service!

My sister and I popped in for a pint after a long walk.
We didn’t intend eating but the menu looked very interesting (even as vegetarians) so we opted for lasagne and chips. Maybe not the most exciting dish in this day and age but it was DELICIOUS. And despite our best efforts, we could not quite finish it!
The waitress was lovely and friendly and the atmosphere cosy with a fire in the grate.

Amazing food..yum

Me and my husband stayed here for 3 nights and was made to feel welcome from checking in to checking out. Our room was spotless, had all the amenities we needed ie kettle, teabags, coffee, milk, sugar, hairdryer. We could also see the lake from our room which was about a 3 minute walk away. The staff here are amazing from the waiting on staff to the chefs, and bar staff. Breakfast was fresh and served piping hot. We also ate here 1 night we were with another couple who were also staying here, between us we ordered 2 steak and ale pies, 1 fish and chips and 1 gammon egg and chips, all agreed food was wonderful. Look out for Addie and Anando. Great characters they made sure you was never waiting for anything, but were never intrusive. But to all the staff YOU WERE FANTASTIC thank you for making our stay a memorable one 😊 We would have no hesitations staying here again.
