Bez and jean_ where do I start?  You guys rock! Beautiful home, quaint flower fairy like garden , clean room with comfy bed and a well stocked kitchen with teas cookies milk bread etc to help yourself anytime to. Very helpful and such a good vibe here. Thanks Bez for coming to our rescue with the spider lol! Helpful and informative also.

Quite and peaceful setting

Amazing place to stay, so beautiful and clean 

We had the family room for 3 adults with an en suite bathroom and privacy curtain for the third bed.

The hosts aka Basil and Sybil were so friendly and knowledgeable of the area

The b&b is absolutely lovely we had the family room even though there was only myself and partner which was delightful bathroom is all modern so great to use spotlessly clean has a lovely kitchen for guests use with a nice selection on offer for breakfast the hosts are lovely and friendly nothing to much trouble we will be returning in the near future but definitely for a longer stay

Short get away

Having visited as a base for local attractions we loved the B@B, lovely friendly hosts, lots of local knowledge we found helpful. Would recommend this place to anyone. Rooms were very clean, amenities were excellent, kitchen is a great idea. Will be visiting again.

The Old Masonic Lodge August 2021

My partner and little one stayed in the family room for 2 nights. The building has a pretty front garden and lots of character. The owners Jean and her husband were so friendly and welcoming. Our room was very spacious with a double bed and single bed within its own sleeping area that can be closed off using a dividing curtain which was a nice touch. We had lovely wooden floor boards and a good TV with Netflix. The bed was comfy and the sheets all looked super fresh.  Our en-suite was stunning and looked 5 stars. The kitchen is a help yourself area with the basics for breakfast such as tea, coffee, cereals, bread, jams, juices, yoghurts and pastries. The location is down a very quiet little back road, and is literally a few minutes walk from the town centre which has a lovely market square and some nice places to have coffee and food. We would rate the accommodation 10 out of 10 and if we ever go back to the area we would stay again 100%.

2 Night Stay

This B&B is small, and the interior has been totally refurbished to produce four rooms. They are not en-suite, but there are two toilet/shower rooms, modern and functional, albeit rather small.  Our room had all that we needed, and was quiet, warm, and well-lit. There is a kitchen for guests to get their own breakfasts, with a range of baked goods, yogurt, juices and fruit, as well as coffee and tea. Everything in the guest wing was spotlessly clean and worked well.
The owner made us welcome, and was enthusiastic and informative about the local area. The parking is quiet but a bit scruffy.
The whole place offers exceptional value for the price. Highly recommended.

Good value

Tucked away in a quiet location away from the main road in Shepton Malett is this historic stone building.  

The rooms are clean and spacious with a large flat screen TV and free wifi access. There are two shower rooms and toilets in a Communal hallway with a well fitted out shared kitchen which has a sophisticated large microwave with a conventional oven facility as well as a microwave and a large fridge to store food.

The kitchen is also well stocked with fresh fruit, croissants, chocolate brioche, wholemeal bread, spreads, jam and marmalade as well as yoghurt.  Of course tea and coffee are also available for whenever one wants it.

This is ideal for families who do not want to face hefty restaurant bills.  The owner is also very friendly and helpful.   I think the premises are also dog friendly as one of the guests we met had a dog.

This is a very quiet location for a good night's sleep and there is free parking outside on the street.

Whilst a little dear for a B&B the excellent accommodation and friendly service are a big plus over a hotel.

An excellent B&B with a difference

We were greeted by our lovely host Jean. We were shown to our room room ,the room was bright and airy. Simply furnished but with everything you should need. All clean and well presented. The bathroom was next to our room ,not on suite ,but this wasn't an issue. Plenty of hot water and towels provided.
Breakfast is do it yourself,but this is a really good idea as your not restrained by time.lots of cereals,fresh croissants and fruit. Yogurts,tea coffe and juices.The kitchen can be used at any time.so if you come in late you can make yourself a hot drink or a snack.
Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby.
We recommend this play highly.

Used as a base to visit Longleat

Some people would be put off staying somewhere where you had to share a bathroom and toilet or where you had to put together your own breakfast. And as for there being no cooked breakfast!! Well you just wouldn’t stay there! Or would you? If you can put aside these desirables and think more simply you can stay somewhere with character, and with lots of the other elements which can make your stay as enjoyable.
A clean room,a comfy bed, a friendly welcome and hosts that really want you to enjoy your stay in Shepton Mallet.
The Old Masonic Lodge was a real gem of a place which I booked, not least because it offered excellent value for money. Our hosts Jean and Jez were so helpful in their recommendations on places to eat and things to do and see. You are provided with a map and useful telephone numbers to make things easy. So about that breakfast, the best thing about DIY is that you can have it when you want to. There was a good choice of cereals, toast, yoghurts, bananas, croissants-we didn’t need anything else.
We had a fabulous weekend and will most definitely come back again. Top marks from us👍🏻

What a fabulous weekend!

Lovely clean and homely, owner very welcoming, continental style breakfast. Help yourself to as much as you like, kitchen with fridge microwave tea coffee etc , shared shower rooms, but there is 2 .  Great place to  stay if like us you have a car to get out and about. We went to longleat and Bath,  which are  not to far away 
Short walk to the high street, few bars and restaurants, food lovely,  there is a local pub called The Bell, owner is a  bit a character, very friendly staff and locals.  Also try the Mexican tapas bar fab food
