The whole experience was fantastic. The room was very clean, warm and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly throughout and special mention must go to John who even went and collected some medication for me after his shift had ended for the day. The food was very reasonably priced and excellent quality. Cant wait to return

Above and beyond

I was staying at the hotel in January. The food was good and the staff in the restaurant were great. 
When I arrived in my room, i heard scurrying and scratching and presumed their was a dog in the room next door. Sadly, as the evening went on I could hear more and more noises which could only be mice. I could hear them running above the room, in between the floor boards etc. 
This sadly forced me to check out really early in the morning due to the room feeling dirty and quite frankly left me feeling disgusted.

A Haven

We had a one night stay as a family over three rooms, my partner and I were fortunate enough to have a large ground floor room. I gather the others had smaller rooms. Where do I begin? The room was spotless with a very large comfortable bed and modern shower room with a good selection of toiletries. There was also plenty of tea/ coffee. Four of our party had breakfast which was cooked fresh and very tasty. Throughout our short time there every member of staff we spoke to were very friendly from the moment we arrived until we left the following morning. Would we recommend this place ? Certainly.

Lovely one night stay

You can’t brush this place off!

We enjoyed a very peaceful and comfortable overnight stay in a spacious, well appointed room in a wing of the Inn.

The staff here are genuinely friendly and very warm and welcoming. The service is first class and we’d also highly recommend the breakfast which was fresh and very tasty.

If ever we are back in the area we will definitely chose The Fox House as our ‘den’ for the night!

Boom Boom!

Had an excellent lunch here, all the food was exceptional. We had roast beef sandwich, fish cakes, a chicken and mushroom dish and lamb koftas. The koftas came with tzatziki, baba ganoush and beetroot, absolutely delicious. Great staff, nothing too much trouble. Would highly recommend this place, can’t wait to visit again.

Fabulous lunch

Warm welcome on arrival, room’s immaculate, service excellent. All round good value for money , good portion size, well cooked and presented food. Staff very attentive and professional in what was a very busy pub. Top notch manager and team. Made a fuss of my dad on his 80th birthday dooo. Thanks to all the staff, great job.

Good place to visit for walkers or to just check in for a nice weekend visit in the Peak District. Excellent staff.

The staff, the quality of the décor and the quality of the food and service was exemplary. We arrived on a Friday evening with two sleepy children (3 and 5) and instantly felt welcome and comfortable. The family room was spacious, comfortable and the boys slept very well in the beds.

The staff really looked after us, they anticipated our needs, were patient with us at meal times and nothing was too much. The breakfast was very very good and the quality and quantity was first class. 

Rebecca the manager was sincere, professional and delivered a level of service worthy of all the 5-stars, as was every member of the team.

The location of the hotel was excellent for access to all the key areas in the Peak District.

We are already planning our next trip back.

Fox-Inn: First class service and standards.

Fabulous stay at the lovely Fox House. You would struggle to find anywhere with nicer staff or a warmer welcome. Great food and lovely rooms. We were booked for Friday 10th but the snow put an end to that. We were called early on Friday and offered a room for the Saturday- very organised and they called again on Saturday to confirm the road was open and to make sure we were happy to travel. It started snowing again last night and the lovely manager sent staff home early to make sure they were safe.  We still got a fabulous meal with excellent service. Got up this morning to a cracking breakfast and to find a young staff member from a nearby pub had got stranded outside the Fox on her way home but had been rescued by staff and put up for the night. More evidence of how lovely this place is!! Definitely going back.

Lovely place, lovely people.

Family of four stay as part of a larger extended family two night stay for a nearby wedding. Check in is in a bustling area of the pub but staff were friendly and made check in as simple as possible.

 The accommodation is around a courtyard area which is separate to the main pub. This means that even if the main pub is busy and noisy as it was  on one of our nights you will not be disturbed whilst in your room. 

The room itself was large with a double bed and double sofa bed and was clean. Only two bath towels provided, but I know the staff would have provided extra if we'd have asked but we managed fine. 

Iron and ironing board provided quickly when requested. 

Breakfast was a thing of beauty on both morning, plenty of choice on the menu which would then be cooked fresh. Between us we sampled: the full English breakfast, pancakes with yoghurt and fruit, avocado on toast, beef hash and pastries. All were delicious! Service extremely accommodating and friendly and no request or change to dishes was too much trouble. 

Special thanks to Rebecca who was fantastic during our stay, especially with my visually impaired mum and her partner. Jasper (the guide dog) really appreciated the biscuits! I'm sure he returned slightly heavier 🤣
