Warm welcome by the owners of the hotel, warm friendly bar with customers that actually speak to you, off road secure parking, local beers on offer at a reasonable price compared to some hotels I’ve stayed, room was lovely and spotlessly clean,and had the owners personal touch not like some hotels with purple quilt covers and pillows ! Ideally situated in the town centre which saved on taxi fares. Would definitely recommend. 

BIRTHDAY PARTY WITH OVERNIGHT STAY

My son and I stayed in this hotel for one night before climbing Pen Y Fan the following morning. 
We were welcomed by the lady owner and shown to our room. She was very friendly and made an effort with my son who is 8. 
We had room 7. The decor is older but perfectly nice. The room was a decent size, clean en suite and decent shower. There was a TV, tea making and fast wifi, everything that we needed. 
The ceilings are really high and the windows too so we couldn't look out but we weren't really in there too much. 
We came back down and had a drink in the bar and talked about breakfast with the owner and arranged a time in the morning to come and eat.
The lady recommended a restaurant, Woodfired, in town which we went and was great. 
When we got back there were a few older locals in the bar area and there was a nice atmosphere. 
Breakfast the following morning was very tasty. Cereals, tea and a cooked breakfast for £8. We checked out and climbed Pen Y Fan and had a great time overall. 

The room rate was very good. There is a secure car park to the rear but we just parked out the front. This hotel is perfectly situated for the Brecon Beacons, or going into the town. 

We would definitely return to this hotel when we come back to the area.

Great stopover, everything that we needed.

Stayed here one night as down on business. Jose and Marlies, what a lovely couple, could not do enough for us. Room was clean and tidy, superb power shower and  huge breakfast for just £8. (extra eggs for me as l am veggie) Loads of Character in this Hotel as opposed to a lot of modern hotels with no character. The stairs are steep due to it being an "oldy worldy" building. Great Wetherspoons down the Road plus a   fabulous local pub called the Winchester. Great real ales there and the people were very friendly. Even had a guy doing a talk on Merthyr. A great plus to the Hotel is the fact it has a bar and a couple of really great Real Ales all at a reasonable price.
All in all a superb place to stay overnight, weekend or week. Do not be put off by the ODD BAD FEEDBACK.

excellent value hotel

5 of us came to Merthyr Tydfil for the weekend to have a ride around on our motorbikes and pre-booked into this lovely hotel. 
There was safe and secure parking for our motorbikes and there is a perfect bar inside the hotel for a much needed beer after our long ride down to wales. 
We were greeted with a welcoming smile and was promptly shown around. This lovely couple could not have done more for us and instantly made us feel at home. 
The rooms were exceptionally clean and tidy. It has every thing you need, tea and coffee making facilities, clean towels and toiletries and comfortable beds. 
We decided to have breakfast every morning to set us up for the day. Cooked from scratch with specifications on what you'd like with your full English. also had cereals, tea, coffee and orange juice. 
The bar on the evening was full of lovely welcoming locals who couldn't wait to give us tips on where to ride the following days. 
Overall the hotel is fantastic!! everything you need and more. Thank you for such a lovely weekend and we will be back for sure!

We had such a warm welcome from the owners. The room windows were high, so no real view, but they were very clean and comfortable. Lets face it, how much time do you want to be sat in your room looking out of the window, so the window height didn't matter.
Although breakfast wasn't included in our price, it was available at a very good price, and was more than worth it.
Secure parking for our motorbikes was such an added bonus. Gave us peace of mind knowing they were safe.
Having a bar that has realistic prices was a bonus. No wallet raping here :-)
Would I stay again? Most definitely!
