I have just checked out of this place after staying one night on a business trip. My first time here as I couldn’t get into my usual hotel. On arrival a lovely lady showed me to my room and told me that I was being given room 1 as an upgrade because they had no other visitors that night.

Room was lovely an old converted stables with everything you need for an overnight stay. 
I was disappointed to find out their kitchen is closed for dinner at the moment and it would of been nice to know that prior to booking. Luckily the lady told me about another pub 5 minutes walk where I could get dinner.

Dinner at The Fox was lovely with great service.

Breakfast was ok at the cafe which was included in the room rate.  

Now for my only issue- at 10.45pm last night there was lots of noise coming from people opening and closing doors and talking loudly in a block where I was meant to be the only person staying???

Then someone attempted to open my door with a key!!! I was in bed!!! Thank god I had the key in the door. I shouted out that the room was occupied to which someone replied “oh sorry”! 

This left me feeling very uncomfortable and meant I did not sleep very well. 

Such a shame as this place could be really lovely.

I did not see the owners in the morning to express my concerns.

Could be amazing

Booked here last minute as it was close to where I needed to be.
What a great find when I got there I was promptly showed to my room no 2 . This was a large room with a nice en-suite . The room was spotless with a cosy feel. Everything you could ask for with tea and coffee plush towels and even a table for two with two small bottles of wine shame the wife wasn’t with me. 
When I arrived I promptly popped into the pub for my evening meal the steak was fantastic and the atmosphere welcoming even with a single table setting . The waitress was prompt and very efficient .
If I’m close by again this will be my choice off hotel

In my opinion, you name it.....it was perfect !!  Reception, ambiance, cosy dining rooms, 
service but not forgetting the four different main courses which the four of us found to be 
of exceptionally high quality !!  You'll have to go a long way to find food better than here .
 I decided to have " fish and chips "........and what a feast it was !!  I have never before eulogised over fish, but this was something extraordinary......I whole heartedly hope that you will heed my recommendation and visit this hostelry. We went for lunch last Friday.

The perfect pub / restaurant !!

Love this place. As met as I arrived by whom I believe was the owner. Showed me to my to my room and made me feel very welcome. Room 3 was great, clean and tidy very comfy bed and great shower.  I had my evening meal at The pub, and I have to say was very good. Mussels and the recommendation of the Bass Stone, loved it. Wish now I had gone for a desert. Breakfast in the morning I had eggs Benedict which was made with quality ingredients and tasted as good as it look. Stuff again made me feel very welcome.

Lovely location and nice rooms. Could have been cleaner and it was quite cold at night and there were no additional blankets. Hot water is also limited. Pub food was good but again the pub was quite cold. Perhaps visit in the summer!

The staff are helpful and the cafe  for breakfast is v nice

OK for a short break

We didn't get to stay here. We had booked some weeks before. 2 rooms for 2 couples travelling from opposite ends of the country
We were informed at lunchtime on the day that we did not have rooms as someone had let people hold on to their rooms from Friday night, without checking to see if they actually had vacancies! 
This is very poor service. The manager called us to apologise and offered us a different hotel nearby and he had to pay the price difference. We had to pay more for our evening meal and I would have expected a written apology from the person who allowed us to lose our rooms and quite frankly I hope they lost their job! 

Disappointing for a very special occasion and almost ruined a weekend
Will never try this place again
