Townstal Farmhouse

Townstall Farmhouse is a lovely accommodation run by lovely people. Immaculately clean rooms and bathrooms, comfy beds and delicious breakfasts. Can’t rate this highly enough!
Great base to explore Dartmouth from.

A lovely traditional farmhouse with excellent showers and comfortable beds.  But the best thing are the owners who are friendly and obliging.  Nothing is to much trouble.  The location is good, its a 20 minute walk into Dartmouth, uphill on the way back!  Plenty of parking.  I've not had the breakfast so can't comment.  I stay here regularly and it's my go to place.

We returned to Townstal Farmhouse for our 3rd visit and enjoyed another lovely stay thank you Nicky and Pete. 
Beautiful rooms with everything you need and great cooked breakfast-you want for nothing it's the perfect place to stay in Dartmouth. 


The stay was lovely, greated by Nigel who made us welcome and went above and beyond to make our stay a great experience , great breakfast and people, rooms spacious and some lovely features for an old farm house.Loads to do locally ie beeches boat trips restaurant s , will definitely be back.

Stayed here in August 2022 wonderful owners who went above and beyond to make our visit comfortable and enjoyable, location nice and quiet. Breakfast amazing , with choice of home made jams and marmalade.

Easy to find.  Old farmhouse with lots of character and charm.  Many rooms and can stay one night.  Quiet at night. Gardens on grounds are well done.  The main lobby and sitting rooms are filled with history and old charm.  Enjoyed the English feel along the coast of Dartmouth. Breakfast was excellent with oodles of hot choice to order.

A lovely stay in this lovely B&B, well arrived very early about 10am and thought I would pop in to ask if we could park to be told our room was eady which was a massive help due to my wife's disability. The room was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was great and they just wanted to put mire food our way which is so rare. They couldn't of been mire helpful.

Our 2nd visit to this lovely well located  Farmhouse and another charming stay with Jean and Nigel. They always make you feel very welcome and work hard to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. We had the same lovely triple room and 2 more amazing breakfasts. Thank you both and your team we will be back! 

We spent a fabulous four nights at Townstal Farmhouse B&B in September. The building is an authentic and cosy 16th century farmhouse, which looks very attractive from the outside and still retains its period charm on the inside. 

There is parking for around 7 or 8 cars, and we didn't have any problem getting a space, although it is quite tight. The location of the B&B at the top of the main hill into Dartmouth is ideal, away from the main hustle and bustle but still a short walk from all the shops, restaurants etc. Just beware - it's quite a hill on the way back up! We certainly got some exercise in on the hotter days! Parking is free after 6pm in the town, so some evenings we decided to drive down rather than face the walk after dinner.

Our room was large, clean and comfortable. I particularly liked the fridge inside the wardrobe to keep the milk cold, which enabled us to store leftover food when we couldn't finish our dinner and keep our water bottles nice and cool. Also there was lots of surface space in the bathroom to lay out our toiletries, which I usually find lacking. Even though the B&B is situated next to what is a busy main road during the daytime, at night when the ferries aren't running across the Dart it's virtually deserted so it was very quiet and we slept beautifully.

The hosts at Townstal Farmhouse are exceptional. We had a warm greeting when we arrived and it continued from there. Jean spent time chatting with all the guests at breakfast and she made sure we all had everything we needed in our rooms, as they're not serviced daily due to Covid. Breakfast was a bit of a hectic time for them on some mornings due to lack of staff, which unfortunately is affecting the entire hospitality industry at the moment - but they were always apologetic. It was nice and easy to order our breakfast the day/night before and arrange a time to be seated to help everything run smoothly.

We really really enjoyed our time at Townstal Farmhouse and we'll definitely be back if we're ever in the area again! Thank you!

This is a lovely farmhouse on the edge of Dartmouth with generous, clean and comfortable rooms and excellent breakfasts.  Very friendly staff too.  It's not too far into town and I should certainly like to stay here again.
