A few months ago, my daughter and her friend booked and paid for a room for 1 night as they had tickets for a local gig. They had also purchased return rail tickets from York. 24 hrs before they were due to arrive, they received  a message to say their room was cancelled, as the hotel was closed! In the middle of peak season?? Reading the reviews, it was probably a blessing in disguise! I tried to ring several times but each time someone hung up. What a way to run a hospitality business! Such dreadful customer service.

Cancelled at last minute

I was contacted the night before and moved at the last minute with no means of speaking to anyone.  They cited 'technical difficulties'. 

New location was over a mile from town, and pretty bad. Customer service really poor, hard to contact and once you do, no help. 

Avoid.

Just so awful

absolutely distrusting overall. When we arrived, we were held to ransom for £50 before we were aloud in- which we were not told about when booking. We still haven’t got that back and have been trying ever since. It took us half an hour (or more) to enter and staff were terrible to reach. Room was in poor state and no staff what so ever. No parking and had to pay £15 per day and drive round to find a place to park. The room also said it had sea-view, which it did not. Balcony was covered in bird poo and the window which you could get on the balcony with was awfully stiff. Overall, they scammed us with a large sum of money, robbed for our deposit, it was overpriced and would definitely never stay again. Don’t waste your money.

Apart from the great location this is not good value for money. The rooms were not clean with cans & sweets found on the floor on arrival. Paint was peeling from the walls & the bathroom taps needed fixing before we could use them. There were no toiletries except hand wash & the towels supplied were not bath towels. Overall the room was tired & in need of a proper clean.

Not good value for money

Me and my boyfriend visited for his birthday and I was so skeptical due to the bad reviews that had come up. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The instructions to get in were clear and self check-in was so simple. We got our texts on time so we knew exactly what we needed to do. We didn’t need any assistance because of we didn’t have any enquiries or issues so can’t comment on how good they are if you need further assistance during your stay. Yes, the room was slightly smaller than expected but we only booked a standard double and it actually made it feel more homely which is what we wanted. I didn’t have to pay a security deposit and this was something I was worried about due to reviews saying they didn’t get their all the money back. We went on a Saturday and so we expected it to be noisy at night - it wasn’t. The only thing I will say is the air vent in the bathroom could have used a wipe as it was quite dusty but apart from that the bathroom and bedroom were clean. From reviews we knew not to put anything in the rubbish bins we just took it with us so can’t say whether you do truly get charged for using the bins but this wasn’t an issue. I spent the whole morning worried we were walking into hell and it was so far from that! The price was rather steep, but overall we loved our stay and I wish I never looked at the reviews!

Don’t Be Put Off By Bad Reviews!

Awful Customer Service. We were unable to stay due to their listing suggesting they had their own parking but turns out they don't and they suggested parking the best part of 1 mile away. Upon discovering this we asked for a refund and cancel as my partner has MS, HARRMS to be precise, so a long walk with our bags is not achievable.... The staff were rude on the phone, they were not understanding and refused to refund anything, or even meet me in the middle on a part refind. Even though it is basically a false advertisement booking.com allow them to get away with it and wouldn't get me a refund. The whole time the hotel knew exactly what they were doing and simply just wanted to take our money and took none of the factors into account.
1 - their listing stated they had parking
2 - they showed no humanity to our situation 
3 - They have been allowed to get away with this.

No Humanity

My husband and I arrived at the hotel and at first glance all seemed ok. We got in ok with the instructions we were emailed, then I noticed large red bags of dirty linen and towels sitting in the entrance hall and a Henry Hoover on the first floor. The stair carpet was stained and looked griotty. We got into our room and again at first glance the four poster bed looked great. We tried to open some windows as it was a sunny day and none of them would budge apart from a small one with a hose sticking out of it from the large air con unit by the side of the bed. I was disappointed to not be able to actually see the sea view apart from sticking my phone out of the small window. My husband went to have a shower and called me to show me the awful black mould in the shower unit, yuck! The toilet roll holder was broken and still attached to the wall but unusable, the remote control was very grubby, definitely not Covid cleaned. In the freezer was half eaten food! The glass table top was still dirty, I could see a cup mark and other stains on it. Above the ceiling of the bathroom was sitting a suitcase, old lampshade and two armchairs covered in dust clothes, just looked like a space to dump things they weren’t using! By now I was feeling upset that having paid a lot of money for The Presidential Suite it certainly wasn’t living up to expectations. We decided to just make the best of it and got ready to go out for a meal. After shutting the door to our room my husband pushed on it to check it was secure (he is very security conscious and does this everywhere he goes) and to our horror he was able to push the door open! So absolutely no security at all! That was the final straw, we packed up and left and went home. It completely ruined our weekend away in Brighton. Please DO NOT waste your time or money on this dump!

Worst hotel ever

Myself & my partner stayed here for a week back end of June 2021. We were a little nervous after reading the reviews and found that some were true and some didn't apply to us. 

On booking through booking.com 2 weeks before our stay. We got sent through the confirmation however, we were waiting up until the day of our arrival before any information was given on parking. This was despite the fact they said we could get a permit. Through numerous calls and emails we didn't receive anything. On the day of our arrival they sent through a Paypal link for an extra security payment of £50. So we found it cheeky that they couldn't get in touch with regards to the parking but could remember to send a link for extra money. Only to be told we couldn't get a permit and told us parking options.

On arrival it's contactless. Turn up, touch the pad, enter your code and you're in. No interaction with anyone which was a little weird but we knew this from booking. We were on the top floor which for the unfit proves a task with luggage! (We were aware there was no lift service.) The hotel was neat and tidy. 

Get to your room and again another code is needed in order to access your key. We stayed in the deluxe suite which looked nice and tidy. We had a kettle, microwave, mini fridge & toaster. The fridge was stocked however a little pricey so we brought our own drinks. We encountered a few problems such as: 2 towels were provided however one big one small, the bathroom was small, the shower was coming off the wall as it wasn't secure on the bottom. The water built up quickly in the shower so if you wasn't aware it very well could have spilt out as it wasn't draining. The water pressure was a little off. If one tap was one the other would barely come on. The hot water was scalding! To shower you had to prepare yourself as it was very hot. I had to turn it on & off to try shower without getting burnt. Little things like drawers looking like they would break if you opened them, windows were very 'thin' you could hear the parties that was being held across the road, extra holes in the bathroom wall where a precious picture used to be etc. Paying a lot for a week stay you would expect a few things to be in top shape. Especially for a room called deluxe! The reason we never brought any of this up with the owners was simply because the communication had already been very slow. So we felt we wouldn't hear anything until after our stay. So we just put up with it and tried to not allow it to ruin our stay.

We had a view from the beach from the right hand side of our window. The location was great, a little stroll and you was at the beach. The bed was comfortable and the room was a good size. 

In order to get your £50 back my partner had to message them to start the process. Again, a little cheeky as they chase you to pay before you arrive. You also had to ensure you left the room in tip top condition! We had to remove our rubbish which is first for me. Otherwise a risk of being charged £10 per bin liner. Anything you brought in yourself had to be removed, despite the fact they don't offer any food options.

We probably won't stay here again, it was definitely a different sort of experience. We aren't complainers and usually just make do but, sometimes it's nice having someone there just incase a few things crop up.

Okay stay

Not worth anything, absolutely disgusting service and quality. Firstly, we got an email 13 minutes before check in stating that we had to pay a £50 deposit or else we would be denied access to the room, this email stated that we had to pay via email, yet didn’t provide a link. This wasn’t stated during the booking process at all and the email seemed very dodgy, we tried to call the hotel multiple times but couldn’t get through. Panicked, we went to the hotel and found two cleaners, luckily they were able to text us the paypal link and then the access code to the hotel and the room. When questioned why we only heard about this deposit 13 minutes before check in the woman simply replied “we’ve been busy”. Unfortunately during the stay we witnessed many other people trapped outside the hotel with no way in. Check out went smoothly until we found we had been charged £10.50 from our deposit. When we questioned why we were shocked to discover it was because the empty coffee sachets (which were complimentary) had been discarded in the bin provided in the room. Yes, we were charged £10.50 for using the bin in the room. Absolutely disgusting, not worth the money and in all honesty I hope they go out of business because quite frankly they are deceptive and do not deserve any money when genuine business have gone bust during lockdown.

Avoid at all cost, a SCAM!!

Booked this for one night stay to visit my daughter. 13 mins before the 15.00 check in got a email saying I had to pay £50.00 deposit for the room .until this is paid ,you can't check in.
Walked round to the craven .Got there and no Internet or signal were it is .
Cleaning women was there and eventually after sending the link twice I paid through pay pall.
Room very small and basic .toilet is shared with another room in the corridor.not a particularly clean room. 
Three days after checking out I get £39.50 back from my deposit .what a con and fraud .Do not stay here ,greedy people trying to scam people for a extra ££.
