Hotel is now used to house migrants, all men as far as we could see, so please stay clear, they can be found hanging around the area, my girlfriend felt very unsafe. I suggest to anyone  thinking of using this hotel in the future, that's if it reopens to the public again, is not use this hotel.

Wife booked a room at this hotel several weeks ago as a halfway stop over for a break away to Scotland. Less than 48 hours before we were due to travel, the hotel left a message on her answerphone, cancelling our booking, blaming the government because of Afghanistan asylum seekers and child refugees (their words), and to call back if we wanted to discuss further. We did call back, left a message, but no one returned our call. Also contacted the central switchboard who assured us someone would call back, which they never did.  Extremely poor set up in our view, so be forewarned if trying to book a room at this place.

Just on an over night stay, arrived and got my room key at 15.15 had a freshen up and then back to the hotel by 10Pm.Good size double room all clean, tidy and just what i needed. tea and coffee facilities with the offer of more when i checked in. Comfy bed had a back room so no real noise. All in all a hassle free stay.Hotel is just off A1 on the edge of an industrial estate, pub next door and local food outlets near by. No food at hotel for me not a problem. if i was hungry or needed breakfast then perhaps not the place to stay.

Hassle free overnight stay

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by a friendly face . The staff here are exceptional so helpful friendly and just great people . The rooms have everything you need all in working order .We stopped here for the Great North Run and the reception helped us with transportation to the event printing a document with all the buses and metro info not many would go above and beyond like that .

Fantastic staff

We stayed here for 3 nights for rugby League Magic Weekend. The hotel was spotless and anything we needed was met with a smile and a friendly face. The rooms were clean and the showers are amazing.The restaurant on site was excellent and plenty to choose from and was very reasonable, the breakfast was lovely. The staff are a credit to this hotel and worked very hard. Would definitely visit again.

Rugby weekend away

It is the first time that I have ever stayed at a hotel that does not provide pillow cases. I slept on the actual pillows! It was supposed to be a luxury room: yes, a luxury room that provided only one coffee and one tea sachet each! I am given more at Travelodge!

We found our room very satisfactory. It was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff went out of their way to help and were very friendly.  They even provided an ironing board with no extra charge. Great place to stay.

Great place to stay

Very basic but that’s what I expected for the price. Clean. Nice size room. Perfect to break up a long journey. Lady on reception was amazing. An absolute credit to the place. So helpful and friendly. Nice pub next door for dinner. No toiletries or anything but didn’t really expect anything for the price.
