Great little hotel, parking on site, nice cosy bar with plenty to choose from regarding drinks, sky sports for sports fans, 10 minute walk into town centre.

Great breakfast in the morning at small extra cost, all in all great little find, we would definitely use again.

Stop over on the way to Harewood Hill climb

What an absolutely lovely hotel, the staff were fantastic and the food was brilliant. There’s a very well stocked bar and more beers than you can shake a stick at, the room we stayed in was just perfect just what we needed for our overnight stay. We will be back again.

Fantastic little find

This is a little hidden gem, we booked as was dropping a family member to Ferrybridge. We arrived to a lovely welcome and shown to our room. ( clean tidy and comfy) we decided to eat in the hotel. Food was very nice,cooked to perfection and portions were really good. Would recommend the peppercorn sauce with your steak. There is a continental breakfast included but we opted for the full English. The staff members were so friendly and next time we are up in the area, we will return 

Friendly, clean. And comfy 

I arrived at The Wheldale thinking ‘oh no. It’s a pub’. How wrong I was. 

Yes. It is a pub but from the moment I arrived and parked the car in the ample car park until checking out, Donna and Paul made me feel so welcome. 

Paul read the rules and regs out - usual stuff - and made sure fire regs were adhered to before escorting me to my room for the night. 

Upon entering, I was amazed. So large and immaculately kept. Spotless. Tea and coffee making facilities, TV and WiFi all up to spec with a small yet perfectly arranged bathroom with gleaming fixtures and fittings. Triple glazed windows keep out any hint of the road outside while keeping the room nice and cozy. 

For a budget hotel I was so pleased. Paul ran through everything from the TV instructions and the different light settings to times and location for breakfast and meals. 

I had a drink in the bar after showering and changing and decided to take them up on the full English the following morning. For £6.95, I couldn’t go far wrong.

Off out and back late. The outside rooms held no fear for late revellers. Easy access with automatic lights lighting the way home. 

A nice, big comfy bed ensured a good nights rest as I woke late the following day - 8.45am is late for me!

And so to breakfast. Paul had asked previously roughly what time I wanted it as he could prepare it ready or would I like to wait for 15 mins while it was made from scratch. I opted for the latter. I’m glad I did. 

The free, light breakfast consisted of cereal, toast, fruit, juices and more to accommodate the majority of people. I had a full day ahead and glad that I added on the option of the full English. 

It arrived on a large plate packed with everything to satisfy the hardiest of traveller - see my photo. Superb! Really fresh and filling. And plenty of it. For under £7, it’s a must have. 

Up, showered, packed and down to quickly check out, I thanked Donna for their hospitality and handed the key back with the assurance that should I ever be up that way again, I will definitely book The Wheldale Hotel.

A gem found in Castleford

The staff were welcoming and professional on my arrival. The bed was very comfortable, and the room had a big sink and a desk, and working sky TV. The room was clean and had a beautiful design.  The hostel's location was easy to find from Castleford city centre by foot as it was on a road, and the location was quiet at night. The price of the room included breakfast which we could help ourselves to, between 8.30am and 9.30am. On weekdays breakfast was served between 7.30am and 8.30am. The food was varied and tasty, and had fresh berries and other fruit as well as cereal, ham, cheese, yoghurts, toast etc.. I travelled alone, and I recommend this place especially to solo travellers and newcomers to Castleford, as the single room was very nice, and the location was safe to walk to, and the hotel was easy to find, if coming on foot from Castleford bus or train station.
The steps which led up to the rooms are safe and had a handrail but they are fairly steep and can get quite slippery in wet weather so I would not recommend this hotel for a person with mobility issues.

The king sized bed was very clean and comfortable. We stayed in room 8… the shower was a little weak but manageable.

Fantastic Value for Money!

I travel the country for work and when stay in different hotels in different towns most nights. This hotel is one of the few i will be returning to when in the area again💪 it does  exactly what it says on the tin and in fact I would say it does more too!! The ladies who run the hotel are very friendly and welcoming, the rooms are way better than any of the same star rated rooms I’ve stayed in recently. The decor was very, nice bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a lovely shower and it was all extremely clean and well maintained. The complementary continental breakfast looks lovely  and as set out very well but as a fat man who loves his food I opted for the very fairly priced full English breakfast and I am extremely satisfied. Thank you for a great nights stay ❤️

Definitely marked on our map to stay again when I’m the area ❤️❤️

The standard and cleanliness of this place is excellent but by far the best feature of the stay were the staff. Sally and Donna looked after us very well and were accommodating of additional things we asked for. The stay included a light breakfast which was very good with a range of options, importantly Yorkshire Tea was available. 
We stayed in room 6 which was on Booking.com as a triple which it was not- just be careful if you book through them and I’d actually recommend booing direct. The room faced the road which got very busy quite early which wasn’t a problem for us but others may want to consider.

Excellent stay

The rooms here are superb quality with a freindly welcome from the staff. Sally looked after us and our stay was excellent. Few budget hotels offer this quality of acomodation and space. The bar was freindly and there was free wifi etc.

Superb quslity room

Donna and Paul are lovely people, working hard to grow and improve the hotel after covid. Everything was outstanding; a lovely healthy breakfast (or the works if you wanted it). Friendly bar where you could chat to people. Thanks
