Just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone at The Red Lion who supported us in arranging a wake for my father in law. 
From the moment I contacted Chris, he was respectful and supportive of our needs. 
They provided an amazing buffet at short notice and closed the pub during the day for family and friends to meet.
I cannot recommend them enough and thank them for making a difficult day, easy, welcoming and organised.

Called in for Saturday night tea with Mrs W. Pie of the week was steak and kidney with the best and lightest shortcut pastry you can imagine. Very well filled pie, gravy separate so not swimming and proper chips. Just lovely. Mrs W very happy with her fish and chips with mushy peas, nice light batter and very fresh fish.  It's been a while since our last visit and we're wondering why.

We had a lovely meal, Chris was very accommodating and polite. We had been to Matlock but we were looking for a traditional pub and we found this fabulous place. We would definitely recommend visiting. 

Homely and beautiful food. Well worth a visit when visiting the area, we were made very welcome for our Sunday roast. Very friendly and dogs welcome too. Lovely village location in beautiful countryside.

Firstly I need to start by saying that we understood that the present landlord of this pub Chris and his partner have only been there for 2 years so any review before this time has nothing to do with them.
Which leads me on to say that we visited around 4 times on a 5 night cottage  break and the food was excellent the welcome was to match. Chris and his partner were really welcoming people and the food was right up there !!. Thank you.

We booked our stay at the Red Lion and were the first paying guests since it's refurbishment to the  guest rooms. The rooms are beautifully layed out and we were well treated by the young hosts. The stay was way above are expectations for the price we paid and we will be booking to stay again. The restaurant is excellent and good value . Thank you for looking after us. 

Great place to stay. Lovely room with some nice touches like dressing gowns and toiletries. Lovely soft towels, a proper sized hairdryer (don't get this very often!)and full tea/coffee making facilities. The food in the pub was excellent and the breakfast equally delicious. Great atmosphere in the pub and very friendly staff.

We went here recently looking for some good food away from our holiday accommodation.  We received a warm welcome and the pub is very cosy.  We could not guess on what an exceptional dinner we were about to have.  We do not normally have three courses, but could not resist here as the food we had was the very best.  Would highly recommend this pub for people who like very tasty food at a reasonable price.

Great friendly welcome. The room was lovely and evening meal was 1st class. Rooms very clean. Our first adventure with our new 8 month old puppy was great success.

Staff happy to welcome the hound and serve us some great, reasonably priced food and drinks
Lots to choose from, snacks or main meals, curry on a Friday and plenty of ales to taste too
A great place to find after the wet and wild drive on the country lanes
