We are making this a bit of an annual pilgrimage now :-) We really enjoy our stays at Haven Cottage and this time chose Room 8 as our base which is probably the best room of them all. We had the usual care and attention lavished on us by Mark and Amanda and had the perfect base as we experienced the local food and drink in the area. Breakfasts are of course the perfect way to start the day and they provide every possible combination of foody delights to you. Hoping to go back in autumn this year so looking at what weekends we can fit in. See you soon!

The only place to stay in Ambleside

This is our fourth stay at the Haven Cottage.  To be really honest we never even bother looking at alternatives as we love it so much.

Amanda and Mark look after you so well, nothing too much trouble, they are perfectionists and this shows.
The rooms are beautiful, clean, well stocked and fresh milk delivered to your door every morning. Breakfast is a feast, you are stuck for choice, as there is so many lovely things on the menu.  Fresh fruit and yogurt and homemade granola is simply beautiful.  All ingredients are sourced locally and you can tell the quality.

Mark and Amanda can recommend all the local walks and give great advice of distances, difficulty levels etc.  The little lounge is full of local books too, which is great for first time walkers in the area.

You can do fabulous walks from the front door and two minutes you’re in the centre so the location is perfect.  Ambleside is a great place to stay as everything is on your doorstep.

I would recommend 100% this fabulous BB.

Five Star Bed & Breakfast

We had a fantastic stay here. Wonderful location only a short walk from the town centre. Our hosts Amanda and Mark were both wonderful. Very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was absolutely stunning, we both really enjoyed in and were so full we didn’t even have lunch. Mark has excellent knowledge of the local area and suggested a gorgeous walk to grasmere which we did on Saturday. Some fantastic suggestions for food too. Ambleside its self is a lovely place full of nice pubs and places to eat. We love the lakes anyway and will certainly be returning!

Gorgeous b&b perfect for a weekend away!

Haven Cottage is an absolute gem of a B & B nestled in the beautiful town of Ambleside. I couldn’t fault our stay one bit! The breakfast was a particular highlight, so fresh and delicious. The knowledge of great running and hiking routes from Amanda and Mark couldn’t have been more spot on! Thanks so much to you both, we will definitely be back to stay very soon ☺️

Absolute gem! 

Haven Cottage is a gem in Ambleside. 
We are experienced Lakes visitors and this was an exceptional stay. Amanda and Mark were superb and accommodating hosts, the breakfast was delicious. Great location, good parking spaces, clean comfortable room.

Warm, friendly, cute and cosy

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Haven Cottage. The room was clean and had everything we needed, we really appreciated the delivery of fresh milk in the morning for teas and coffee. 

The location is excellent and the breakfasts were outstanding! Loads of choice and everything was fresh, often locally sourced and delicious. 

Mark was knowledgeable about the local area and really helpful, providing us walking maps and advice. 

We would recommend and would love to stay again.

Excellent stay at Haven Cottage

An absolutely wonderful stay at a beautiful B&B. The 2 suite rooms we had were immaculate and very well appointed. The night before we were given an extensive list of breakfast items to chose from for the next morning. Breakfast was staggered for the guests and everything was cooked to order. Locally sourced good quality food which I love to see. There's parking at the B&B with a bus stop directly outside the door. We didn't need the car the whole time we were there which was brilliant as parking can be so difficult in the Lakes. Also just a short walk into Ambleside which has loads of lovely restaurants and independent boutique shops. 
Amanda and Mark were very welcoming and always had time for a chat. Mark runs around the local area so very helpful if you are looking for walking routes.
Would highly recommend if visiting the area and would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

A wonderful B&B!

Beautiful accommodation in an ideal situation. Excellent choice of breakfast which was of a very high standard. Friendly hosts with helpful suggestions of local walks and a homemade cake served each afternoon. Would certainly recommend Haven cottage.

Breakfast is amongst the best we have had anywhere and nothing is too much trouble, including advice on suitable walks. 
An easy walk into Ambleside and reasonable parking.
