There are lots of excellent restaurants in Kalkan, this is definitely NOT one of them!
Please do not waste your money.
Service is extremely slow we waited 90 minutes for our meal, food isn't cooked on the premises and when it arrives it's terrible. 
Greasy, overcooked, fish full of bones, food appeared to be reheated as it was dried out in a pool of grease!
All 4 meals were absolutely terrible

Worst meal in Kalkan don't go!

Beautiful food! Really tasty, generous portion sizes and lovely presentation. Excellent value. Staff are incredibly friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. The roof terrace is stunning and has incredible views over the marina. This is one I would definitely go back to. 

It’s worth noting for new and returning visitors, that prices everywhere in Kalkan have risen a lot since 2023.

Fantastic food and location

My wife and I went to the restaurant on our first night in Kalkan. Shortly after placing our order and receiving our first drinks my wife became very ill and it became very clear that we needed to leave and go back to our hotel. Upon seeing how poorly my wife was, the staff could not do enough for us both, they were all so concerned and wanted to do as much as they could to help her. We felt that the best option was for us to have a slow walk back to our hotel that was only a short distance away. 

As we were leaving the restaurant, a young female staff member could be heard running down the stairs chasing after us. To my amazement they had quickly packed up our food order for us to take with us in case we were up to eating it later that evening. 

Much later that night when my wife started to feel better we did have some of the food, although it was by now obviously cold and would have been better eaten while warm, although it all still looked and and tasted amazing. 

Now when any of the staff see us out and about on an evening, they come over and check she is ok and the concern they show for her is always heart felt and sincere.

Thank you to everybody at the Old Trading House. You are amazing, your service is 1st class as is the food you serve.

Excellent food served by caring, friendly and amazing staff

Small cosy hotel in the old town very close to the waterfront. Just 4 rooms with cute balconies overlooking the charming side streets. Breakfast cooked to order on the stunning roof terrace was the highlight. This family run hotel is very friendly and accommodating, however the surrounding area can be noisy as it was the night our party stayed.

Service was rather slow and chaotic. Our meze were sloppy, no care or pride in the making of them and resembled slops of yoghurt and mounds of mush. The main was chicken Shish, can’t go wrong with that but it was as bad as it gets… no flavour at all in the chicken or rice and the bread was stale which it sat in served with a barely charred tomato and pepper served on a silky shaped plate. Husband had sea bass which was mediocre with salad which looked like it was just shredded leaves and a tomato on the top. We quickly asked for the bill and left. Avoid at all costs

Awful - couldn’t get out quick enough!

Stayed at the Old Trading House for 5 nights,  our own little apartment in Kalkan was occupied, so I just needed somewhere to stay that was close by. The room was spacious, clean and bright, I had a quaint little balcony where I could watch the world go by whilst enjoying a glass of wine or two :) .  I ate at the hotel a couple of times with my family, the food was lovely, and the staff were really friendly.  Location was perfect as right in the village and the views from the roof terrace are amazing.

I have booked for my son and his girlfriend for September.  Would definitely recommend

Great Little find in the heart of the village

We've been going to this restaurant for many,  many years and have fond memories of it. But last night put an end to that.

First up after waiting ages, we had to remind them for our wine, which was spilt on the table when serving and not wiped up.

Two small rolls and some dips came up but before we could start, our starters came up and put on the plates we were using for the bread and dips.  OK, bit surprising but ok.   The starters looked good but in honesty were not that amazing. 

Those plates were whipped away, were we ready for mains?  No.  A few minutes please.  So, after a few minutes the mains were delivered. 

On the menu mine should have had rice.  I got mashed potato with vegetables stuck into it - the sort of thing you'd give a small child - and chips. Who needs both?  Again, OK but neither meal was anything special.

Plates whipped away  new plates arrived without us asking - water melon delivered to the table.  I really don't like water melon.  A dessert menu would have been nice, but apparently not an option.  Neither was a coffee afterwards but we'd had enough by then, settled up and went.

We originally sat down around 9pm, the restaurant was fairly full.  If they didn't want our business they should have said.  We felt rushed - in and out in far less than an hour and people were still there so they weren't waiting for us to close up.

All in all it left a nasty taste and a lot of very good memories have been squashed.  We will not be returning. 

Disappointed 

All 7 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal very tasty and the presentation was lovely. The only thing for improvement is the terrace is a little lacking compared to the inside which I think is very pretty they almost feel like two different restaurants. View is one of the best out of many rooftops we have sat at this is our third trip to kalkan and our first meal here and was tasted great and well cooked. My husband had the boar and found it really good.

Delicious food lovely view and presentation.

Walked by this restaurant a few times on our downhill travels and finally made it to the roof terrace. Menu looked great and the Wild Boar stood out to me. We both ordered Wild Boar and were not let down. Staff great and friendly and the coffe at the end tasty. Only suggestion was to give option of rice as a change from chips.

Have a really lovely evening at the Old Trading House last night. Barish and his team provided faultless service and the food was delicious.  Can’t believe we’d not stumbled upon this little gem before ! The cinnamon lamb was a real treat and so was the speciality lamb pie.  Fantastic roof top setting with stunning views.  We only wished we’d seen the lovely hotel rooms before we had booked accommodation! Definitely worth a visit. We will be coming back. Liz and Nick
