I recently stayed two nights at the Maikhao Palm Beach Resort Phuket and found it to be very peaceful and comfortable. It is rather dated and could do with a good refurb, but the location for me was good and it was very cheap compared with other resorts. The room was very large with a partial sea view from the large balcony. It is probably not the place to stay if you want to be near the action on Phuket, but it is very nice and quiet. The nearest ATM and 7/11 (alcohol and snacks) are about 2km away, but only a 100bhat ride in a TukTuk. The airport viewing point (to watch the aircraft take off and land) is about a 30 minute walk up the beach or a 200baht return ride in a Tuk Tuk. The resort has two restaurants, one ala carte the other a buffet, both are quite good. The staff are very nice and helpful. I would definately stay there again.
