776 reviewsOur stay at Chai Lai Orchid was truly a wonderful experience. I’ll admit I was hesitant at first and second-guessed our booking several times, worried it might not be ethical. But those concerns quickly disappeared — the place has such a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and it’s clear the elephants are well cared for and loved by their mahouts. We did the 2-day, 1-night experience, which included a scenic waterfall hike followed by a delicious BBQ lunch. Then came the highlight — meeting the elephants. Just wow! Being so close to them in such a respectful and natural setting was magical. That evening, we enjoyed dinner and relaxed with our friendly guides (including the amazing BeBe!) along with some playful puppies, kittens, and dogs. We even shared a few laughs over a light-hearted drinking game. The next morning, we woke up to the incredible experience of feeding an elephant right outside our room. It was surreal. Later, we went bamboo rafting and visited a Karen village, where BeBe and our other guide (whose name I sadly can’t remember) gave us a heartfelt tour. We even had the chance to witness a traditional wedding — such a special moment. Thank you to the whole Chai Lai Orchid team. This was, without a doubt, one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Thailand.
