Z'Wichjehues

My family and I went skiing in Zermatt last week. Best place we have ever been. We stayed on the top floor of this 5 story Chalet. Two bedrooms, four beds and a foldout, so it sleeps 5. Kitchen was awesome: Stove, Fridge, Microwave, and best Espresson / Milk steamer. Dining room was cozy and well lit. Terrific fire place made the whole place cozy. Even had to turn down the heated floors. Bathroom was clean. Europeans just don't know how to build showers. Maybe it's cause I'm American, but their showers are always too small, and usually look like they are an after-thought. Deck and bedrooms have a clear view of the Matterhorn, if you lay your head just right. The lace has great storage for all our stuff. The boot room had heated pegs for our boot, a rack for skis, and shelf for our dirty shoes (to keep the room clean), and easy access to the front door. The location was AWESOME!!! We were at the foot of the Findelbok, a small access road seldom used by electric service vehicles, but covered in snow which meant we could ski literally to our door step. Getting to the lift was a different story. Weiche is the third to last stop before the lift, so early in the morning the bus was usually full and a tight fir. Later in the season, I can imagine there being NO room. It's not far to walk, but carrying skis for 15 minutes might be tough. Maybe later in the season, with snow on the road you could ski there. We never tried. I'm so glad we stayed here, and we would do it again. Thanks again to Barbara our host.
