Great service staff, nice terasse and the best plum cake I have ever eaten.

Ambiance is very laidback and authentic Swiss. No reservation needed in advance. Free parking space available, and easy reachable by bus. Centrally located in Saas-grund.

Excellent cheese fondue

I stayed for a week in July while on a mountaineering course. The room was basic with a shared bathroom on the hallway. The bed was very good and I slept well which is important on a hard week in the mountains, particularly as some nights we stayed in alpine huts which dont sleep very well, so a good night sleep afterwards back in the hotel was welcome. The proprietor Christian is a very friendly man with good English.  The breakfast was good with a selection of choice and the dinners we had at the hotel were very good as well - very good deserts! Only 3 stars as I found it a bit noisy sometimes in the evening with the terrace right under my window. Also there was free wi-fi but we never managed to get it to work. They offered "lunch pack" for 4.50 Swiss Franc, but it was literally just 2 slices of dry bread with some cheese and nothing else. A wasted opportunity as we all ended up buying our lunch packs in the coop across the street afterwards. With people heading for the hills every day from the hotel they could have a good opportunity to do proper lunch packs.

Good basic quality

Reasonable rooms, somewhere between average and very good.  I eat here many times whilst using Saas Grund as a based for mountaineering, the food is good and served quickly.  I would quite happily return here when back in Saas Grund.

We arrived without reservations on a rainy evening and got a room there. It was a nice room but it had a shared bathroom. Luckily we were alone in that area of the hotel ;thus, we didn´t have to share it !  Nice restaurant and good beers, we slept like babies after a long day driving and sightseeing! The receptionist gave us a special pass to enjoy the gondola up to the glacier and overall our stay was good.

Warm, Friendly, Cozy

Bathrooms shared between units of three rooms. Can be a decent option for a family. Clean but spartan rooms, requiring an update however.
The outside terrace on an open square is lively, and presents a pleasant food choice. The refurbished restaurant offers nice menus, prepared with care, and a selection of open Valaisian wines. Friendly and helpful service.
