With my family we were looking for a typical Swedish restaurant and honestly that is exactly what we found. 
Very fresh and km 0 food (and drinks), excellent presentation with attention to detail, discreet but helpful staff. The atmosphere in the dining room cosy, soft lighting and fresh flowers.
I litteraly loved the char, served with mushrooms, lettuce and beetroot! 
So delicious !

Fresh and traditional Swedish food

This is really a wonderful place for you who love buildings from past centuries with high celings, chandeliers, antiques and beautiful paintings. My boyfriend and I went to Sweden to pick up 2 persian kittens, and needed a place to stay, when we found this place.  

I was really positively surprised about the place.  Expect a relaxed atomsphere in beautiful elegant surroundings, and a feeling of being a special guest.                                                                  

I can highly recommed the Kings Room with the four poster bed, which is a gem for the price.,and I would love to go back another time.

Highly recommended.

Hidden Gem - Value for money in a Swedish Manor House

On beforehand it sounds like a great place. And yes, the owners should get all the credits to their efforts for rescuing this old mansion. I imagine it was really hard work, so hat off to them. 

But, and this is a huge but, (hence the low rating), the experience staying here was not a good one. 

First of all the place is dirty - really dirty. I don’t mind some spider webs or flies in the corners. We are on the countryside after all. But the room and especially the bathroom was just disgusting. Traces of previous guests everywhere. 
The style choices can at best be described as eclectic. Or bad taste if I am being honestly rude. A Buddhist statue, dead plants, an old worn down leather reclining chair and imitation rug is not a charming mix. 
The breakfast is barely ok. 
On a positive note these issues can of course be fixed with some external help. Best of luck!

Good intentions - bad execution 

I can´t really decide what to say about this place. This old mansion built in 1858 was more or less rubble when the owners took over some 15 years ago. And yes, from leaking roofs, no doors protecting it and no furniture, no nothing whatsoever, they have done a tremendous job. But, today it is run like a Bed & Breakfast, ergo a business and there are some things that need to be mentioned: Among all the quirky details that make this place unique it needs a good cleaning, a very thourough cleaning. Let me give you an example: One might want to walk barefoot in your own room, right? Well, it was like walking on gravel, or a dirty toilet, etc. However, it is a different experience, the hostess/owner is sweet, serviceminded and once cleaned, this place is a far cry from the sterile perfection of your every day chain hotel.  

Charming dirt

Like living in a museum with beautiful, old, things everwhere. Two lively dogs to pet and horses on the premises. We played pool/billiards and there were several board games to borrow. Would love to come back.

Not a hotel so much as an experience! 

We stayed there for one night only on our way from Stockholm to the ferry terminal in Karlskrona. On our arrival we were met by the host and shown  to the hotel - in fact a charming, quiant  19th century mannor situated in an old park and later led to  our clean and cosy room.  From the very first moment we felt there as at home surounded by artefacts from the past and submerged in the atmosphere of tradition and history of the landlady's  family (Italian aistocracy if I do remeber properly).  
Breakfast served in Nygards deserves a special appraisal. Although we were leaving in the morning we were sat at the long table spread with dishes for I think more than 10 guests. Food delicious,  everything for probably every palate.
I would definitely recommend Nygards B&B not only to those who would like to overnight there but also to travellers seeking quietness and rest in rural surroundings. Additional advantages: vicinity of picturesque island Oland, seashore and beaches in Monsteras, vicinity of golfcourse.

A cosy little B&B

What a lovely family runs this B&B. We were welcomed by Eric and Maria in august 2012. We stayed for a few days to discover the beautyfull nature in the area.

The walls of this house really breath history. I loved the authentic feeling of the place. It was lovely that they shared their plans for the further restauration of the garden with us.
They do everything to make you feel at home. 

Be sure that you do not eat to much in the evening , because you need to be very hungry to cope with breakfast :) . Everything you could imagine is there. Breakfast is served in a great room with lovely classical music on the background.

It's these kind of experiences that make travelling so intresting.

Real B&B

While travelling through Sweden, we found the Nygards Herrgard on our way to the ferry to Gotland.  As some other travellers discussed, you need a GPS to find the place!
The host, Linne, welcomed us despite the late arrival, very graciously.  She showed us the room, as well as the rest of very impressive house.  the 19th century manor saw better time, but the family is working very hard at renovating every part of it.  
Our room had an ensuite, it was very large, very comfortable.  As it is an old house, the morning noises from the other rooms and from downstairs woke us up. As we had to get up to catch the ferry, it was a blessing in disguise.  Breakfast was nice, having the opportunity to chat with Linne and her daughter about the house, it's origin, the state of the renovations and the plans for the future was great.  We truly admire the challenge in front of the owners of this nice manor!

A very special experience, with marvellous hosts!

This is a 19th century manor house in an isolated rural location offering bed & breakfast. A similar arrangement to many of the French Chateaux If you need and/or want full hotel facilities this is not for you. There is no bar. If you want dinner it has to be by arrangement with the very amiable hosts. You need to be an independent traveller happy to "do your own thing" and yet happy to mingle with other guests in the library, lounge or dining room..

However, if you want something different and want to sample life in a sympathetically restored manor this is for you. All sorts of birds and wildlife are in the surrounding woods. Reindeer occasionally venture into the garden, particularly in the early morning.

A variety of rooms are on offer, some fully ensuite and with TV, some in a separate annexe. You need to telephone ahead and discuss your needs.

The small town of Monsteras is a quick easy 10 minute drive away. The larger more cosmopolitan Kalmar about 35 minutes away. It goes without saying that a car is absolutely essential.

The property boasts good high speed free Wi-Fi throughout although the signal is patchy in the annexe - many large chain hotels should offer this !

Breakfast is arranged very much to your personal tastes and requirements. The hosts are very flexible and can produce most standard European breakfast fare with a full range of juices, cereal, yoghurts etc.

Despite being a very old building all heating and plumbing is modern and works well. It was sunny but very cold when we stayed and the house was very warm and inviting. I do not usually sleep well when away from home but I slept long and heavy here ... testament to how quiet and chilled-out the place is.

I had a thorougly relaxing time and although it is not to everyone's tastes ... it certainly suited mine
