The hotel is beautiful located next to the beach. The room was not clean, we were wondering if they even cleaned the room after the previous guests: litter under the bed, dirty toilet, pillow smelled of cigarettes and the mosquito net was just very dirty. The food was not only very sober, but also made in bad hygienic conditions. On a morning there were ants in the jelly and dead flies in my coffee. When i took a view in the kitchen, it saw it was very dirty. In my opinion our host was a bit too intrusive.

Dirty place at a beautiful location

This is our 3rd time of staying here and we love it due to its proximity to the beach, it's rustic sea facing rooms, the friendly staff  (especially Anil) and the fact that they take care of their beach dogs, Blackie, Foxy and Patch.
But, being regulars, last time we visited,  they asked us to book directly next time we visited as it was better for them than receiving bookings through booking.com, Agoda etc. Being trusting souls we did this so imagine our surprise to be presented with a room bill of almost double for what we could have booked through Agoda!! The owner eventually reduced the bill slightly but we still had to pay over the odds for being loyal and trusting customers.
We were going to return in May and stay for 2 months solid, but will now be looking at alternatives, which is a big shame as we really love this place.

Brilliant location.

Reggae zone is set directly on the beach! The ocean is ideal for swimming....No rocks!!!! Plenty of room to lounge on beach. Staff go out of their way to take care of guests without being overbearing. Were  knowledgeable and helpful accessing surrounding areas. The ocean sounds and breezes outstanding! Bravo reggae zone

You have to check this place out 

We spent one night there and it was enough to have one of the worst experiences in our trip to Sri Lanka.The room was dirty,no toilet paper and they asked money to bring us some!!!!The was no glass at the window so during our absence an animal entered and ate our fruits!!!!We treid to complain but we had to deal with drunk staff!!!!We asked for our money back but we got nothing

Awfull service,awfull behavior

We slept in Reggae Zone Beach resort for one night with our two kids. The location is unique, it's litteraly ON the Beach, the waves almost touch the hotel. There's a great mellow vibe. The staff is vertrokken friendly and helpful. 
Breakfast is basic, toast, butter, jam and eggs. The rooms are very basic, it's just a wooden plank affair with a bed and a shower. But waking up with the sound of the waves and an amazing sunrise makes it worth while.
I recommend this place for location, atmosphere and staff, and not so much for comfort.
