Peacefull place for great ayurveda treatment, yoga and relaxation. There are 10 comfortabe bungalows with AC. There is a pool in a paradise garden. It is near a lagoon, you see sunset when doing yoga. The indian ocean is in walking distance.

Authentic Ayurveda

Together with friends from Portugal we stayed at this Ayurveda Resort, wonderfully run by Silvia & Robert.
As from our first (telephone) contact things felt right.
Warm welcome in the middle of the night and ‘no hassle’.
After a few days of relaxing, going to the beach (opposite) of the road, having dinner in the resort, or neighbours nxt door or plenty of cosy restaurants nearby, we decided to prolong our stay and enjoy the hospitality of both host/hostess and their staff. Including various massages, yoga, bicycles for a ride along the road and birthday dinner at the resort; we really felt at home. And although the kids couldn’t appreciate the foods as we adults, it was delicious and very healthy.
Great cabins, wonderful pool, nice other guests and lots of peace of mind.
We would certainly like to come back to this lovely warm Swiss-Sri Lankan couple who made our stay in Sri Lanka/Nilaveli one we will never forget.

FANTASTIC relaxation 

I had 3 one hour body massages over a 5 day period from 3 different therapists. 
I did enjoy them and found 2 of them very relaxing .  The approach by each therapist and advise was different . The first day I was sent for a shower to wash off the oils immediately after the massage.  The next time I was told to leave the oils on for several hours.

The location is very peaceful and it’s enjoyable and relaxing sitting in the garden with a herbal drink after the massage

It’s good value when comparing to western massage costs but expensive when you know how little the staff would get paid.

Definitely worth a try, go with the flow!



Peaceful place but treatments inconsistent 

Went for a spa treatment... The room was very very hot and not very airy so they kept the door open for air to come in but still it was very very stuffy. Little over priced based on my spa experience Island wide. 

Being on holiday
And trying to relax, we were eager to try a srilankan massage. We were recommended to go to this location by our hotel because it was the closest. We arrived at 7.30pm. The place looked poorly lit, dark and uninviting. We decided to try it anyway. 
My husband and I opted for a full body one hour massage. 
A man massaged my husband and he was relatively satisfied with it. A lady massaged me but had very poor
personal space respect shown. Windows were left wide open and I was asked to strip with no towels or sarong to cover. They do not even provide disposable undergarments so all your own ones get totally soaked in oil when you are returning. 
All I felt was as if she was just rubbing oil on my body. Didn’t seem like a massage at all. She finished like 20 minutes faster then my husband. It seemed scary sitting out in the dark as I waited for my husband. 
When we finished we went to the front desk. A lady who seemed like the owner and a European came to attend to my complaint that it finished earlier. She gave me a very meager discount of Rs500. My husband was about to insist for a prorated charge but I didn’t want to create a scene. I quickly paid and left. And I also thought that people should be aware of what they can expect at this place. It almost felt like they are not trained and It’s just a way to make money with something cool called Ayurveda. My opinion is that people from far away who are not used to Asian cultures might feel its a new exciting experience. But people who have been open to Asian cultures will be very disappontied. The Ayurveda is not to be blamed which has deep rooted science and centuries of practice. Just  hope providers do it responsibly.

Worst of my life

One of the things we really wanted to experience in Sri Lanka was a traditional Ayurvedic Massage.  We were recommended to check out the Nilaveli Ayurveda Resort by our hotel in Nilaveli.  The grounds are beautiful and well kept though we didn't spend a night there. 
My fiancee got a massage from one of the ladies and seemed pleased with it. I got my massage from the so called Doctor.  I've had a ton of massages in my life and this one was by far the worse.  The massage was done half assed with him looking out the window half the time and putting next to no effort into it.  At one point he walked out of the massage without saying a word and was gone for almost 15 minutes.  If you need to leave please inform your guests.  When the massage was over he just left without saying a word and that was the last we saw of him.  I've had way better massages from people with no training at all.  Save your money, there are way better options out there to get authentic Ayurvedic massage.  What a rip-off!
