We had such a lovely experience here, and we were treated incredibly well. The food was amazing and we were all welcome to seconds. The safari was really interesting and was amazing to see a leopard ! Hopefully see you again soon.

Amazing !

This is the cleanest accommodation we have stayed at in Sri Lanka. The family own and run their own safari trips as well. Great service, exceptionally friendly. We had the best tour of Yala National Park and saw so much wildlife. We were not disappointed. 
We definitely recommend this home stay and to book your Safari with them.

Family owned B&B with safari

We found this booking through good reviews online. Our hoast Janaka does also do Safari trips in Yala and area and is very professional, rooms were good and clean and nice breakfest, warm wlcome from Janaka and his family. Highly recommend.

The Safari was more than we expected, we saw hundreds of wild animals such as Slothbear, many Elephants, leopard and crocodiles and more. Thank you Janaka and family 

Rooms and safari

Stayed here one night before a Yala safari so was only in the place for 6hrs but it was clean, wifi, fan, AC, everything worked. 

They offer safaris to Yala themselves, but the wife didn't have any info or prices when we arrived so we had no choice but to book elsewhere without any info from them (we arrived in the early evening). Could do with at least an info board with prices for when people arrive and he isn't there. 



Decent stopover for Yala

Tissa was a bit of a weird one for us. The town itself was really quiet as it was November and the season only really gets going in December. We were the only people staying at Shine Park so it felt a bit strange! Also I was a bit ill during my 2 days here so it puts a dampener on it.
If I was to rate Shine on the safari alone I would give it 5 stars. The man who runs Shine is a lovely fella and his Safari I definitely recommend, we hardly saw another jeep over the whole time and he doesn't just join a convoy like a lot of drivers do, plus we saw loads of animals!! 
The hotel itself I would probably rate 3.5 stars, the room had AC which was a bonus but we didn't have a mosquito net. I think we'd been spoilt with other Sri Lankan breakfasts in the past. 
Also (and I know this has no bearing on the hotel) we really struggled with the dogs in Tissa, once upon leaving the hotel to walk to town we got barked at by a group of dogs so we turned back to walk on a longer road on a dirt track and 2 other dogs chased us back! It was quite scary so from then on we just got tuk Tuks to and from the hotel everywhere. 

Beware the dogs 

Pros:

- Very kind and informative Hosts
- Clean Rooms
- Well priced
- Optional Safari (with host although we opted for Sugathes)

Cons:

- Don’t pay extra for the balcony (no view)
- Be aware its 250/300 SLR to get into Town / most restaurants
- No hot water for showers (this wasn’t too much of an issue)
