Situated in a mellow surf village in between Midigama and Weligama. Nice, quite and clean room with relaxing music in the background. Great one hour full-body massage and not too expensive. Very friendly staff.

Excellent Full-body massage

The nicest and cleanest place from the whole village. Perfect position for surfing,very safe place also for solo travellers. Staff is very friendly and super-helpful. Easy to get to many surf spots around.

The best hotel in Gurubebila

We stayed at Wasanthas in december 2019, for eight days. We stayed there last year as well and chosed to come back. The location of the hotel suits us very well. It is located on a calm street with a mix of local life, turism and surfing. It takes 1 minute to walk down to the beach which is mainly for suring but it is alos possible to swim, sunbath on the beach. The staff at the hotel is very service minded and friendly. When we were there I got sick for a couple of days and they really cared. The breakfast is very good.

We have been in Sri Lanka tre times and we think that Wasanthas hotel is the best hotel regarding cleaning, service and value for money.Visa färre

Best hotel regarding cleaning, service and value for money!

Very welcoming family run small guesthouse.
Very clean and modern rooms with hot water and air conditioning.
He did us a good rate and was very friendly and helped us with out onward travel.
I’m very surprised to hear of the negative reviews on here, it doesn’t seem like they would ever charge for air con or be dishonest about pricing. 
One downside is breakfast, you’re better off going to a restaurant if you want legit local breakfast

Lovely stay near quiet coconut beach

A small hotel located on a calm and cosy street which ends at Coconut beach. The room was clean and fresh. The staff was fantastic and very professional. We got the feeling of staying at a more luxury hotel. Give our best recommendations! Stayed at the hotel in December 2018. 

Fantastic stay at Wasantha guest house Weligama

We stayed with 2 families for a week at Wasantha's Garden Hotel. We both had a spacious family room upstairs and shared a large terrace. The beach (coconut point) is just a 5 min walk from the hotel and there is an area surrounded by a reef which is safe for swimming. The surfers were a bit further out on the sea, surfing the big ocean waves, which is a pleasure to watch! Wasantha also has a spa (make sure you have a massage!) and a restaurant. The hotel itself is off the main road, so at night it is very quiet. Wasantha is very friendly and helpful. He arranged our surf lessons in Weligama, at the Island point surf school - the waves are not as high so it's ideal for beginners and children. During the day it is a lively neighborhood, with several guest houses, small restaurants and local vendors. A tuk tuk to Weligama is a 10 min. ride. We had a great week!

Wasantha also has a spa (make sure you have a massage!) and a restaurant, great breakfast and meals, best to pre order as everything is freshly prepared and might take a while to be ready. The hotel itself is off the main road, so at night it is very quiet. Wasantha himself is very friendly and helpful. He arranged our surf lessons in Weligama, at the Island point surf school - the waves are not as high so it's ideal for beginners and children. During the day it is a lively neighborhood, with several guest houses, small restaurants and local vendors. A tuk tuk to Weligama is just a 10 min. ride. We had a great week!

Lovely guest house close to the beach

I have Just returned home from the most wonderful 3 week Stay at Wasantha Guest house. I was searching on the web for a smaller family run place with a relaxed environment away from the busier areas of nearby Weligama and suitable for some Surfing too. I was met by the friendly warm owner Wasantha (himself a keen surfer) upon my arrival and shown around. He also walked me to the end of the lane to show me the beach and where the waves break best and where to paddle out. Even if you are a non surfer I can highly recommend this place, perfectly suitable for couples, families or solo travellers such as myself.  Wasantha showed me the family room he had, Wow!! Big and beautiful. Situated within a beautiful little village with the most stunning paradise beach. Easy to take a TukTuk ride to Weligama and other nearby beaches and places of interest. The food here is gorgeous, fresh and healthy and the way Wasantha and his family look after you is exceptional. I now count him as a true new friend. There is a wonderful spa and I had 3 super relaxing massages!! I also went with Wasantha to a nearby Tea plantation and he was very knowledgeable about the plants, fruits and how the tea is produced. I highly recommend it here, you will love it! Just like Me!...I have found my piece of paradise and I have no hesitation in going back and staying there again next year. 

Someone within the hotel stole $500+ Canadian from the locked safe while I was out. 
There is a dozen other properties in the area that are half the price. 
This almost ruined my trip, financially. Pathetic operations. 

Money missing from locked safe

I’ve been traveling in 45 countries so far and I never had such a bad experience with an hostel even with the cheapest ones. This one is quite expensive but the personality of the management ruins it. He is dishonest and keep counting extras that you didn’t see coming. Even for the AC which is very common in Sri Lanka you have to pay 5$ per day.
Very bad experience overall, I would definitely not recommend it.
