I dont know why this hotel gets such good reviews.  For its out was the worst hotel we stayed in Sri Lanka and terrible value for money. 
I suggest you read all reviews carefully before booking.
Not a 5 star hotel. Dirty and overpriced 

The grounds, building, entrance and furniture are beautiful but that's where it ends. 

The bathroom floor was  dirty and our towels were dirty also.  When we asked for new towels we were given out of the packet that had not been washed!!  

The shower had black mould and a broken tiles that can cut your foot and would need to go to hospital. There was no water pressure in the shower it was like someone was tipping water on you with a tablespoon. 

One of the worst things about the hotel was the room was not secure and you could easily come into the room at night. We were worried so we put a chair behind the door to secure it.  You can see in one of the pictures there is sticky tape on the door.

The safe can be lifted and taken out.

The 2 days we were there, there were only 2 young boys working at the hotel with limited English and who were untrained. On the day of check out 2 men who were obviously senior came to collect our money.  The whole other time we were there we were alone and although they were sweet we received no service

This hotel is not 5 star and not worth $250 USD per night. Max I would pay is $130 USD per night even though staying in a dirty hotel I probably.

This hotel reeks of greed and exploitation. I do not recommend you book this hotel. 

PS this review is on the upgraded room. We were offered a third time saw no difference

Not a 5 star hotel. Continue looking much better in kandy than this

We had the most wonderful stay at this beautifully restored 100year old home. The gardens and view were amazing! Perfect location to walk to the temple and dinner! Nihal and his staff were fabulous! The room was clean,  large and super comfortable. Could not recommend more highly as a place to stay in Kandy.

Nihal and the team were incredibly helpful and took great care of us.

The Bungalow is a beautiful spot to relax and take in the view of Kandy Lake.

The bedrooms are spacious. The ones at the front of the house have amazing light.

We’ll be back next time we visit.

One night stay

This beautiful Villa which was established in the beginning of the 20th Century has a wonderful Garden a sensationell view to the lake. With his only 4 rooms enables a private and friendly atmosphere. Thank you for staying here and being your guest!

The past century meets the present one

We  stayed one night at this bungalow. Environment is calm,quiet and traditional.The staff is very helpful and they treated us well. This place consists of very rare scenarios like the tooth relich and kandy lake. We would recommend this place for anyone who wants to enjoy the beauty and the calmness of Kandy City.

Relax in Kandy

We had a 2 night stay at this small 4 roomed hotel. 
The staff here are the perfect hosts. Akila could not have worked harder to ensure we enjoyed our stay.
The rooms are huge and beautifully furnished including four poster beds.
The gardens surrounding the hotel were just stunning with birds singing.

Beautiful small hotel with spacious rooms and amazing staff

A quiet clean and spacious haven close to the heart of Kandy overlooking the Temple of the sacred tooth and lake. Service was perfect and always a smile.  Nothing was too much trouble.  The hotel is set in beautiful gardens, with four very large bedrooms. Would highly recommend staying here whether you are a family or a couple. You can only imagine the parties and entertainment the house historically used to have!

Perfect calm haven - highly recommend

Castle Hill Bunglow is a beautiful old colonial home in the hills overlooking Kandy and a perfect retreat after the hustle of the city.

The rooms are large and spacious, with a hot powerful shower, air conditioning and large comfy bed.

The views are amazing and we had breakfast served outside and the evening meal inside due to a welcomed storm. 

What makes this special is the staff who take care of every need, from serving tea in a storm, chilled wine on the terrace even accompanying us to the train station when we left.

There are few thing that could improve this stay and I know the owner is working to make a lovely place even more special to guests.

We will alway return to Castle Hill Bunglow. 

Perfect location in Kandy

An oasis of tranquillity after the chaos of Kandy.  The room was just beautiful and spacious.  Very comfortable bed. There is a large ceiling fan which was enough for us but there is also aircon. The bathroom is spotless with a decent sized shower and a full compliment of toiletries. The staff were especially attentive, friendly and very helpful. The beautiful gardens are immaculate, very pleasant to sit and relax in, with lovely views over the lake and temple which are a short walk down the hill. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND A stay here.
