This was a superb airbnb find. The history of the Officers Mess is fascinating, and has been transformed into an incredible space (light, modern, designer, with landscaped exterior dropping down to a river full of wildlife). Andrew is a stellar host, nothing was too much trouble - he not only made us feel welcome, but like a member of family :) the food was delicious, and we left with a greater understanding of Sri Lanka, wishing that we could stay a while longer... Incredible space to stay

We stayed at the officers mess for two nights and we loved the whole atmosphere of the place. Stylish and relaxed and you can imagine yourself back in the 40s/50s having drinks on the terrace and watching the sun setting across the lawn. It's a lovely quiet location, cows wonder along the water's edge at night as the bats fly overhead and the fireflies twinkle. Beautiful. As is the food. Andrew and te
am cooked two wonderful evening meals. Just make sure you specify what time you want to eat as the first night no one asked us and we didn't check and ended up not eating until nine and we were starving. It really is quite laid-back! The dogs are exceptionally friendly and lovely to be around but do ask that they be kept in at night. The first night we got very little sleep as they were howling on and off all night. 5 dogs howling outside your window and door is not something you sleep through easily. I think someone must have overheard us complaining and the second night it was very peaceful!

Wonderful

This place is just perfect. When we arrived the Guest house staff was warmly welcoming us and the 5 dogs were super friendly. The house is next to the river and you can do kayaking on the river or just relax at the meadow between house and river. As it's around 15 minutes outside of the City the air is clean.
The place itself is very clean and well organised. If you need any transportation they organise it for you or if possible even take you. The Chef prepares awesome (and I mean really AWESOME) food for lunch an dinner. If you have any wishes like vegetarian of what ever they prepaid it. 
If you are not sure if you want to book of if you think it's too expansive or far outside of the City. Just do yourself a favour and book 2 nights. If you arrive you will extend anyway :-)

Welcome come to paradise

This is an old military building and very cool.  Its secluded on a rivier and a great place to relax.  Theres a huge lawn perfect for yoga or parties, I would definitely come back with a big group of people to have some fun and ot bother the neighbors. The chicken pot pie was amazing.

stunning views

We stayed here to be near the cricket stadium and it turned out to be a great choice. Andrew is so welcoming and even sorted out a tuk tuk to meet us at the station en route. The whole team there were so helpful and friendly and the food was amazing. The accommodation is very spacious and the setting beautiful and relaxing. We made friends with some other guests and spent several very enjoyable evenings on the veranda with a G&T! Thank you for a great stay.
