Appolo Hotel

Even though we came offseason without prior notice, the service of the staff was great and very friendly. The accommodation was excellent with many options to choose from. What i loved the most about the place was the easy access to the beach and the area made at the back to enjoy the view from the shade. The easy parking was an added bonus 

We just wend there for lunch there. The rotti was very delicious. Service was nice and friendly. And the prices are very fair, not as in the other tourisic places nearby. Will come back again for some of those rotties.

Highly recommend 

Yum food

We had prebooked a family room. We came late evening and staff was friendly and helpful. We didn’t even have to show the booking or payment confirmation. 
The room is nice and simple with two big double beds. There is a kitchen with refrigerator in another room which is also included. The toilet is okay, but a visit from the plumber to fix a loose tap would be nice😄 
There is a big private balcony with view to the street. You can also see squirrels climbing around at the balcony. 

At the other side of the hotel there is a public balcony with a beautiful views over the beach and sea❤️. This is a nice spot to enjoy sunset🌞

We had breakfast included which is served at the beach restaurant. Again view is amazing, but the breakfast could be better. 
Staff is smiling and friendly. 

The biggest downside is the fact that electricity is very unstable and switch off too often (several times a day), but that is a general problem in Sri Lanka. 


Nice and cozy

My girlfriend and I arrived for a 4 night stay with low expectations. We payed around d 20gbp a night with breakfast which was a good price.

To save reading an essay - positives and negatives as follows:

Positives:
. Excellent breakfast - Great selection of buffet style foods plus choice of eggs and toast
.Good location - on beach and amongst the action 
.Great air con
. Rotty at lunch was superb
.Friendly staff 
.Great views from restaurant

Negatives:

.Room standard not great - no shower head (basically a hose) and no toilet roll.
. Room not serviced throughout stay - no towel change, hand soap, sheets changed etc. Everything was a little run down. Stained bedsheets too.
. Very noisy - I assume the same for any beach front location as they all back onto main road.
. WiFi was very very slow. not reliable to send a basic WhatsApp message.
.No safe

I would say if you're looking for a bed and some breakfast with little fuss at a cheap rate, this is for you.

However, if you're used to a decent level of hotel standards, pay a little more.

Get what you pay for

This is the first negative review I have ever taken the time to write, and I'm going to make a long story short. We arrived and they tried to give us a cheaper room and lied about everything. They were caught in their lie and became angry and swore at me. Reading a couple reviews it looks like I'm not the only person to experience such an incident. There are hard working families in this area that deserve your business before the Appolo owners.
