I was in a rushed situation to find a place in Colombo that night and came across Havelock Sanctuary which i believe was pure luck since one room was available for my requirement. When i called the reception the guy was super helpful from the very start and i immediately booked the hotel without any second thought.
later i got to know that his name is Kumara and i need to mention that he was one of the most amazing hosts i have ever come across. He goes out of his way to make your stay comfortable and the whole place is filled with this positive vibe.
Rooms were clean, pleasant and comfortable. simple good breakfast. very well located in the city but you will not feel the busy roads or noises surprisingly.
I highly recommend this place and i wish Kumara all the very best in his life.

One of the Most welcoming experiences !

Enjoyed our stay, host was very helpful, good location (easy access to most parts of Colombo), the room and bathroom were very clean! Would definitely recommend and hopefully will have a chance to stay here again!

Lovely stay

This was disappointing in the extreme. The pictures are nothing like the B&B. When we complained they daid they have only that picture and its only of their most expensive room. The 'toiletries' was one small bar of soap and a aimgle bottle  of shampoo. Not 'hot tub' as described on booking, no cleaning products, no cable t.v and every channel was fuzzy. We ended up watching Netflix on our tablet. 
This place is also located in a very out of the way place. No shops nearby, jard to get around from here, no places to eat and the B&B does not provide any facilites (not even tra/coffee). 

Be wary

Most Sri Lankan guest houses in the price range of around of 79usd and below are done mostly to make their owners money rather than offer a decent level of hospitality in return for a fair payment. Thus the hospitality and what if offered is below, and often waaay below, the price level. Pity for a country that has so much charm. Rooms and bathrooms very clean though.
