As relaxed bird watchers, for our first two nights in Sri Lanka we wanted a place that was quiet, intimate, with good food, aircon rooms, a pool and an initial look at Sri Lankan nature. Lanka Rose Guest House met all these criteria perfectly. Danushka picked us up at the airport and drove very carefully to Lanka Rose. Diane gaves us a warm Yorkshire welcome and we had plenty of chats and laughs together. Diane and Danushka are both good cooks. We didn't need to leave the property, just relaxed after our flights from Europe, did some desultory bird watching, with large woodpeckers, kingfishers and even a small minivet among the many birds to be seen just sitting in the garden. The small pool was most welcome, the room was comfortable, the air conditioning worked, we ate well and slept in total silence.  What more can you want to start your tour of Sri Lanka?

Birds, view, food and friendly chats

I stayed at the Lanka Rose for 2 weeks with my mum, stepdad, little brother and boyfriend and just had the best time ever. I am a big foodie and on arrival we were greeted with a Sri Lankan feast. Diane is an absolutely amazing cook and the breakfast and evening meals were better than what any restaurant can offer. The facilities at Lanka Rose are immaculate and very comfortable. Fully air conditioned rooms which is lovely when you come in from a long day in the sun. The pool is gorgeous as it is overlooking grass land and I could just sit for hours watching the wildlife. The monkeys were my favourite on a morning. 

We went on a 3 day tour with Lanka Rose Tours which is run by Danushka. His local knowledge was priceless and the sights and food that he showed us was just fantastic. He was very accommodating to any of our needs (usually hunger) and would drop us wherever we wanted to be whenever. 

All in all the best place to stay if your going to Sri Lanka!!!

Simply the best! 

I’ve never left a review on here (or anywhere) but then again I’ve never had such a memorable holiday like I did in Sri Lanka and I think between “lanka rose guest house” and Lanka rose tours” they made the holiday so memorable! The food, the accommodation, the booze, the site seeing and the knowledge is all first class! Better than any Emirates flight! 
Diane who owns the guest house classes Lanka rose guest house a “budget guest house” I think its above and beyond a budget guest house. It’s the place to stay after a busy day of site seeing! Or be it a day of relaxing by the pool! 
The meals Diane can make are unbelievable, so full of flavour. If there were a pattern on the plate I would have cleared that as well.
Danushka is the man to know for a tour of Sri Lanka “Lanka rose tours” he knows all the best and more importantly, the safest places to visit for the best of Sri Lanka. There’s so much I could talk about but you just need to visit them for yourself! 
Hope to visit again.

The most memorable holiday I think I’ve had to date!

Best Holiday stay ever !!!
 
We had a very warm and welcoming stay at Lanka Rose Guest House. 
Nothing was too much trouble and even our 12 year old son was spoilt rotten. ( In a good way ;-))  
Fab breakfast in the morning and lovely cooked evening meals.
Rooms very clean and spacious with immaculate facilities.
Great refreshing pool and lovely surrounding gardens.
Excellent area to wind down and spot some monkeys, birds and plenty other wild life.   
Run by a well organised and friendly couple ( Diane & Danushka ) who also offer tours “ Lanka Rose Tours”, making this a great value stay for the money. 
Great place to stay, would be my first choice when I revisit !
Would definitely recommend.

Amazing Stay @ an Amazing Wonderful Guest House X

Fantastic hospitality every day at Lanka Rose Guest House. Diane provides lovely meals which taste great, the rooms are clean, spacious, have air conditioning and are very comfortable and the pool is divine. I loved the outlook from the patio and the beautiful surroundings, along with the birds add to the wonderful experience, Quiet and peaceful.
Danushka is a safe driver, the van is comfortable and being a local, he has good local knowledge.

Wonderful visit to paradise and a very relaxing holiday...

Our stay at Diane's & Danushka's place was wonderful and we felt like in paradise: it's a quiet place, surrounded by beautiful nature and you can spot a lot of wildlife, e.g. monkeys, squirrels or birds. The pool is great, the room is very spacious with a lovely private terrace and the food cooked by Diane (incl. breakfast) is delicious. You can use their bicycles for free which is very handy for going to the beach etc. Diane and Danushka are wonderful hosts: very friendly and welcoming and they made us feel like at home right from the beginning.
