Hostal Don Peque

This small Hostal is in a great location but be aware that Calle Diputacion is pedestrianised when you are dropped off or picked up by taxi. They can drop you off at the end of the street and it is only a very short walk. It is just a five or so minutes stroll from the Balcon and many bars and restaurants. The room is a decent size and is charming, indeed a little quirky. Importantly, the bed is comfortable. We asked for a quiet room, which was located away from the street, and it was indeed pretty calm for a town centre. There was a small private balcony with a table and two chairs. The view was of buildings and rooftops but you could see a glimpse of the sea. There was a good wardrobe, with shelves, a small fridge and a safe inside. There were also tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The bathroom was also a decent size, with a shower and opening window. Plenty of space near the basin for toiletries. There is a telephone number to ring when you initially arrive, although our poor Spanish let us down so our conversation was a little confusing at first. I later found out that the gentleman on reception is French so I could have communicated with him better after all! He was most charming and helpful. Be aware that there is no lift. Reception is on the first floor and our room was on the second floor. You are given a key to both the building’s front door and your room door. I read at the reception desk that you can order breakfast (I think for 12 Euros - we did not try it) but there are lots of nearby cafes and restaurants if you want to eat out too. The rooftop pool was closed for the summer, according to another sign. I would be very happy to stay here again, given the price, as we felt it was good value for money in Nerja.
