We did not stay here but visited the restaurant based on recommendations of its Senegalese cuisine. It did not disappoint. A clean comfortable environment. Excellent service and great food, A memorable meal.

Outstanding Restaurant

I spend two nights camping at the grounds of Hotel Dior in Saint Louis, paying a reasonably low amount of money. However, I was treated like dirt. I was backpacking solo at the time, and looked the part. They did not allow me to enter the restaurant, and there were certain sofas and chairs of which I was denied access. At the end of my stay I went to refill a water bottle at a refilling station, but was stopped by the words: "this is not for you".

Reasonably priced camping, but horrible hospitality

Ideal place to see the fishermen, a bit far our from the main restaurants and clubd etc but only 1500-2000 XFA for a taxi each way.
Simple but sufficient rooms. Only negative point they started showing us different rooms with our guide on arrival... and they never told us that we had to pay extra for the room we chose. ( ie that is an upgrade supplement)

Had they explained to us we would have probably still have chosen the room we selected, but would have had the feeling of being conned..... luckily we had enough money to pay the difference, sent an email to Madame Dior on my return regarding my concerns. I am still awaiting a reoly

Charming hotel with great swimming pool

The place offers both, hotel and camp. It's surrounded with see and has a location, remote from town (20 mins on foot), which offers peacefull mornings and evenings. Beach is a few steps away, it's a tipical beach with sand surface and nice waves and all you need for a fast or daylong relaxation. 
The staff speaks english good, are nice and polite. 

Camp is big and peacefull, has a sand surface and a little house with chairs and table to spend evenings with friends.

It's one of the top locations, in my opinion, from Morroco to Senegal. 

*I suggest you to go for a lunch to Fatima. It's a few hundred meters south from hotel. A place where a local workers eat their meal.

Hotel & Camp

We stayed in Hotel Dior for a few days this September, and loved it! The hotel has a lovely beach atmosphere, from the simple and clear rooms to the delicious deck and pool - and across the sand yard, the ocean! 
The owners and staff were charming and warm, and, altough it was low season in Saint Louis, they were always ready to provide us wonderful meals and important info about the town and surroundings. The charm was all over, from the perfectly set tables to the colorful deck furniture. We felt like at home, and would definitely go back!

un vrai hotel de charm! / a real find in saint louis

Stayed here for a weekend during JazzFest.  This hotel is located in a beach area with five other hotels situated nearby including Hotel Mermoz, Hotel Cap St. Louis, etc. and is not walk-able to town.  Taxis can generally be found, but good luck getting one after the beach crowds dissipate at early evening. 

There were several disappointments during my stay.  First, I was showed my room (aptly named "The Titanic") and was told I could change rooms the next day, but the hotel was full that evening.  No one ever offered to change my room the next day and there was never anyone working the front desk during my entire stay.

There was never any room service - if you run out of supplies or want a clean towel, I guess you have to ask the bartender.  Speaking of the room - the shower is essentially adjacent to the toilet (literally).  If you sit on the toilet, your feet pretty much touch the shower drain.  It was a hand held shower (because the post was broken), but that was a good thing or else the shower would have pointed directly onto the clean towel rack and toilet paper rack...  And have you ever been happy to flush the toilet and watch the shower drain jiggle all around as if it's one step away from a "back-up disaster"?

The bed is two foutons pushed together to give the appearance of a bigger bed, so forget a night of romance.  All-in-all, the room sucked.

Finally, it would be nice if the hotel gave a notice that on Sunday - when I would have enjoyed a nice, relaxing day by the poolside - that they rented the entire area out for a giant party for over 100 college students (3 busloads - including disk jockey).

Positive notes include the staff (always friendly) and the general cleanliness (except when 100 college students invade the poolside).
