This is a cheap hostel and you get what you payed for. The place really needs some refreshing and is just about clean. But location is very good, staff really nice and vibe really relaxed. I wasn't expecting anything great and had a good time there.

Cheap hostel

This is a lovely, if basic hostel, and special mention must go to the three girls who run the place. They are helpful, efficient and really help to give the place a fun atmosphere. It is in a good location and you can get your washing done, make use of good kitchen facilities, and generally relax and have a good time here. 

Unfortunately, when I stayed at Apple Hostel I was bitten by bed bugs. I have since emailed the hostel to let them know and I haven't even received a reply, let alone an apology. It is a shame as I couldn't really fault the place aside from that.

Great place to stay, once the bed bug problem is resolved. 

Nice place...shame about the bed bugs

This was one of my first time staying in a hostel, and I really enjoyed it! The girls who are in charge of the hostel are very friendly, welcoming, funny, helpful and genuinely nice people! They always went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and happy. Upon arriving in St Petersburg, one of my bags didn't make it onto the plane with me. One of the girls made sure to call the airport to make sure the bag was on it's way. It was a very nice gesture! They were also quick to give you directions, recommendations or help you with any problems you may have. These girls are what makes this hostel so great. 

The hostel itself is comfortable and well-equipped. Maybe it's not the nicest, trendiest place, but it was relatively clean (the cleaning lady passed every day to clean the place) was very well located and had everything you need for a pleasant stay. There was a good mix of Russians and foreigners staying at the hostel, and everyone was very respectful and kind. It was not too much of a party atmosphere, which I appreciated. Thank you again apple girls for a wonderful time :)

A great hostel

It is a hostel that it´s very dirty, the toilets are not well maintained and if you go during the high season are always busy and you have to wait a lot. The girls of the hostel are too intrusive and sometimes overwhelming and rooms are too small and not clean. 
The only good thing of this place is that is very close from the center, but really, I think that there are other places as well located as this and so much better.

DISGUSTING

Why we booked this place?Just because the reviews are awesome!! And believe it or not, this is NOT the fantastic place they want you to think it is. Our room was tiny, the beds were noisy and the fridge that was ust outside our room was terribly stinky!!! We complained about it, but nobody cleaned it, it was disgusting!! We coudn't keep the room door open!! Overall, this place is dirty; the living room, the toilets.... You have to wait on a queue to have a shower or simply to brush your teeth. The lockers are not safe at all, you could easily open them.
Some people, who were not guests, (maybe they live there) were cooking stews early morning; the smell makes you vomit. I have seen lack of respect to other guests, while they were sitting having breakfast, how the staff asks them to literally move because whoever lives there wants to eat on that place!! Unbelievable!
One of the days, they asked us to leave, as they needed to clean the room. Excuse me, clean it when nobody is there, let me stay in the room I have paid for as long as I feel to. Please, don't do your washing here; once is almost dry, and without telling you, they ust mix it with other's clothes and you have to find it in the bunch of loundry.
There was also something weird happening there... all girl staff was behaving too affectionate with the guys staying in this hostel; I have seen not only one of the girls touching the boys and jumping from one to the other, like really? We didn´t feel comfortable. The try to be super nice, but at the end they were pushy.
Location is alright, but anyways, I wouldn´t recommend this place.
